LS1 Vette kill
Unfortunately Morbid wasn't with me during this run to film it, regardless heres the story..
I was out cruising Gratiot which is the local crusing street around here, nobody was really out during this night, getting a little late in the year I guess, and it was a little cold out. I see a black corvette turn on behind me, I think it was a C5 body style, (dont quote me)believe it was stock, I couldnt hear any exhaust, I forgot to ask him he pulls up on my drivers side and I give him a rev. We cruise next to each other playing around for a bit then he put his window down, and said "hey you wanna get on the service drive and run em? I ran one of those 5.0's before those things make crazy top end power." I said " I asked him if it was an LS1 or LS2, and an auto, which he confirmed as LS1 automatic, then said, yea lets go for it"
We pull down the road a ways, and turn onto the service drive, I drop it into second sitting right around 4k@ 20-25 mph, driving easy until we get around the curve, he starts the 3 honk and we floor it on the third. I walked him pretty bad from the rolling start had about 3-4 cars on him, before we started to slow down.
He pulls up next to me and said, "yea I saw that coming, think we could go at the next light, maybe give me a chance haha?"
I told him "sure thing man, hopefully I'll get traction"
As we were approaching the next red light it turned green right before we both came to a complete stop, I was at like a 0-5 mph roll, sitting in first waiting for it to change couldnt tell my speed. the light dropped to green, we both gun it again. I eased off the cluth first gear so not to get all loosey goosey, 1-2 shift was slippery as he pulled 1/2 to 1 car on me, as I hit third I was pulling until I was 2-3 cars ahead which by the time I started pulling on him again he started slowing down because he knew what he was in for all over again.
Good runs, was a really cool younger kid driving the vette, most vette owners wont give you the time of day, He was with his girlfriend to, felt bad I had to embarass him, but he was asking for it, she was smiling the entire time as well. 2 Good overall runs.

your 5.0 is still stock isn't it? aside from axlebacks which dont add anything really.
I'd expect it to be pretty close but i guess the autos in those aren't very good. also possibly a 13 year old car...
also.. you are still having traction issues nearly stock with your aftermarket rims/tires?

ahh haha ok, im at the point now that if I floor it at about 25 mph im ok, until it shifts to 2nd then i just peel out and can't regain traction without lifting
I need some new rims/tires myself i think.

Good run, Maraman. You 5.0 guys are killing us stock cammed LS1 guys up top! Watched a tuned 5 liter at the track last weekend trapping 115... and his driving skills were severely lacking, lol.
