Default Racing a C5!?!?

buddy of mine has a c5 vette A4 with I/E/Superchips. I have CAI,75mmTB and plenum, h-pipe,american thunder flows, 5spd. he runs about 13.5 in 1/4 right now and i run 13.79. i think i will give him a run for the money. but which tires should i go with mt e/t or nitto 555r drag.im also thinkin bout getting a predator but i have had my gt up to 148mph and i was wondering if it already had a programmer in it. thnks for the advice.ill keep you updated.

I would go with mt ets. You should get a tune, predator is fine. I personally prefer SCT.

a c5 with mods and only running a 13.5??? i am thinking bad driver. that car should easily be able to get into the 12's. good luck with the race though. i know that when i beat my first vette with my 05, my head swelled up so much that i could barely fit it in my car.

Yes definalty go with the M/T's or the BFG, the Nittos are the worst hooking drag radial out, I don't know why so many people think they are good. The only good thing about a Nitto is that they do last a lot longer than the other dr's.

Ehh, don't even worry about him, just try to get your best time and have fun. If you want the best times, the MTs work great. Nittos offer decent performance and last much longer though.

Anybody know what gears a C5 auto has? I ran 13.5 stock with the same engine and tranny in a heavier car (Camaro). Other people with 2.73-geared autos have run faster, my ex g/f ran 13.36. With 3.23's I've seen 13.2. and in St. Louis we do not generally have very good atmospheric conditions/density altitude (humidity). Maybe the Vette guy is lying about how fast he is to lure you.

Auto Vettes have a 2.73 gear as well IIRC

You guys have lost it. Have you all forgot that there are several factors in what a car runs. You cant just buy a Vette and say it runs 12's out of the box. Track condition, DA and a whole other things play a part in what it will run. I have yet to see a stock Vette break into the 13's where I live.
