Default 2006 GTO @ Englishtown

Hey,

Here's the outcome from the track visit I asked about on the bench. Terrible night at the track, all the race cars were testing for Shakedown at E-Town.....so much oil on the track, they kept closing for cleanup the whole night. Got there just after 5 and did not get to run until 11 O'clock - RIDICULOUS!

First, some pics : - )

Okay, Okay, now to the good stuff!

First Run

60' - 2.02

1/8 - 8.47 @ 85.63

1/4 - 13.082 @ 107.36

Second Run

60' - 1.927

1/8 - 8.442 @ 85.38

1/4 - 13.051 @ 107.33

Also, here's a quick part throttle street pull. The speedo is in KPH so it seems like there's some speeding going on......not so.

Lasty, not to be off topic but here are a couple other cool runs

Nasty Cobra some girl was driving

Impressed with this car. Magnacharged and a 12.1 @ 118

So, that's it. Input? My friend wants to gt back before they close but the traction will be a bit worse. My friend used the method that Stone suggested about rolling into the throttle.....damn, so close to that 12 second slip!

Really good runs for street tires. Pull the interior & unload the trunk of spare and jack and get that 12 second slip. Only takes about 20 minutes.

this

also tell him to try to get a hold of another one of his spare tires... the GTO's spare tires are blacked out 5 spokes that can handle a beating... only thing you would have to do is swap some MT rubber on them

with some MT's out back and running the two spares up front on MT rubber with the "on track" weight reduction mod you are looking at a good half second off your timeslip in a T56 GTO due to traction gains, better weight transfer, higher RPM launch and a bit less weight to lug around... this is all achieved for less than 500 bucks

the first thing that needs to be tackled on the M6 GTO is the traction... once that get tackled you SHOULD have a consistent high 12 second car without mods

Hey sorry I forgot to mention it is an A4....

What do you mean unload the interior? Also I figured that the stuff in the trunk would aid traction, no?

The second spare sounds good to run tires out back. I know the wheelwells are skinny so what size would work (and what are the spare rims dimensions?)

So what's the potential of this thing? The trap seems low but first gear was not full throttle. If he had tires, as it stands what do you guys think its good for? This would be with a solid launch (1.8?).

By unloading the interior I mean the rear and passenger seat, floor mats, etc. Anything thats not nailed down that could be easily bolted back into place. GTOs seam to squat pretty good so I'd remove the spare and jack also.

Nice runs. I was expecting a higher trap than that though. A little more practice and good air, and he should be well into the 12s.

A4 GTO's are known for good E.T's with crappy traps

M6 GTO's are known for good MPH with crappy ET's

it's all a matter of what you want more when you buy one

Okay. Idk if he is getting anything else for this season. Morbid do you think the car will hook on a powerbrake launch? We may go back figure 55 - 60 degree temps. What do you guys think of PJ 1 TRACBITE?

you can hold the brake until about 1500 rpm's. the car will squat and the rear end will be loaded. then roll into the throttle quickly. the passenger seat is 60 pounds. back seat 30 pounds. skid plate 15 pounds and soo on. there is a list of weight reduction on the ls1gto forum. with some ok tires a a4 should run around 12.8 stock with good conditions. the problem has always been blowing the tires off. is the car tuned? you can pick up 15 rwhp from just a tune bone stock. you can also tune the a4 trans so torque mangement is gone and firm up shift points. that makes a huge difference.
