me and my friend just finished getting his '85 300zx turbo up and running. it needed a new computer. anyways we got it running pulled off the exhaust and took it to the track it ran 12.9xx at like 105mph on a non intercooled stock turbo stock boost 300ZX. talk about fast for cheap.

err.. how on earth is this possible? an 85 300zx stock, especially with stock tires and suspension, can't even break into the 14's.. You're telling me he removed the exhaust and dropped over 2 seconds?

I know theres a few boosted cars out there that will do that kinda thing too so it is possible. Usually, dropped exhaust, boost controller, and possibly opening up the intake can make some crazy power on turbo cars if the stock turbos are big enough to support it. I honestly didn't know they were turbo 300zx in 1985?

oh yeah, there were turbos back in '85 on the 300zx. Yes I have heard of some cars that get a ton of horsepower from removing exhaust with turbos and or a tune or upping the boost.. A 300zx isn't one of them though.. Theres many other limiting factors on the 300zx than just the power. Their gears, weight, and suspension back there is a horrible set up for any kind of straight line performance. When the old 300zx's launched they would squat so bad the tires would suffer from extreme camber issues. The car is NOT light by any means for the low horsepower the engine produced. You do not see built 300zx turbo cars running good times at the track ever. They just don't do well. They swap engines into the cars more often than building it or raising the boost.

I guess if he had a manual boost controller and had dialed it up to some rediculous amount of pressure he may have made enough power to run 105 in the quarter, but a 12.9 with stock suspension, stock rear end, stock clutch and flywheel, and a stock block.. seems a little hard to believe still. I don't know you as a bull****ter by any means, and I don't believe you would have any reason to bull**** about this.. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm calling bull**** on what he's telling you he has done as far as mods.
