Default Rough day at the track.....

Me and PD hit up an old 1/8th mile track that was trying to be brought back to life. Hasn't been run on in 5 years or so, and today was the first day. Needless to say, the track was slicker then eel **** all day for me. The track finally came around for the big tire guys, but I gave it up after only 4 passes. Heres a vid of the day. You can hear me peddling the 1-2 shift, spinning in 3rd, and I go for a little ride....

Wow... that looks kinda like just racing in someones backyard rather than an actual track. Nice save on that first pass. Personally, I am a big chicken... when my car gets the least bit out of shape on drag radials I am off the gas.

Jeez man, that track is redamndiculous! Makes sense being that it hasn't been ran in the past few years. Not much you can do on bare asphalt like that. Good save though.....glad there wasn't a wall there or your car would be in the body shop right now!

I'm not going to lie, I chuckled a little bit on the first run. You were very adamant about staying in that run no matter how long you spun, lol. I hate tracks that aren't prepared well, but cool videos.

Yeeaaaa...... after having to peddle it like that, shoulda just shifted to 3rd since the run was a wash anyways. I was VERY glad there was nothing but grass there!

My 2nd and 3rd pass I had to lift after the 1-2 shift, then get back on it, to keep from that happening again. I learned that lesson REAL quick yesterday, lmao! 'Twas a ride for sure, only time Ive been glad that the guy next to me was in front of me! Didnt get my slip for that run, but I bet that was a 2.5 60', at least. Pitiful.

Edit: The track may as well be a 'backyard setup'. It doubles as an airstrip/dragstrip, but I don't think the planes use it for much either, lol. Use to be a 1/4 mile track waaaay back when, before my time, but got shortened a while back. The track needs to be resurfaced and built up at the staging lines. You have to hold your e-brake while the beams come down or you will just roll backwards. It doesn't level off till almost half-track. I had never run there before, but the track lived up to its rep yesterday!

My best time of the day was a whopping 9.33 @ 78mph, on a 2.15 60.

LOL thank goodness there wasn't a wall there. Oh well as long as nothing broke it isn't that bad of a day.

Yes, that track has always sucked!!

I remember running my old '68 Torino GT (390/4 speed) back in 1984 at the track when it was still a 1/4 mile. The pits are all gravel and we gave the track the nickname of the 'Dustbowl' because after you left the track for the day your car would be white from all the gravel dust on your car.

Glad you didn't 'hurt' your car and you will have better days at the track soon!!

God that track looks like garbage. You're damn lucky there wasnt a wall there. Pretty sad when a mid 13 second car can't get traction on a track.
