5.0 & C4
Ok, I was nearing a light opening up to a 55mph zone. I look in my rearview and see a new style s197 roaring up. Since I was in the middle lane, and the right was occupied by a minivan I took the left lane. He stopped next to me, and the first thing I say is "I don't have a chance in hell, but lets do it anyway,"
Before the light turned we talked for a little bit, and he was driving a manual as well. As soon as the light turned he pulled away in every gear as I expected. Damn, those 5.0's are quick.
At the next light we talked a bit more, but I was stuck behind a minivan at the time. He actually stopped short so we could shoot the ****. Good run in all, and he took off briskly again, and I followed in his wake. Wishing I had that roushcharger to even things up. Or that beauty of an engine under my bonnet.

At work there is a guy that I shall refer to as the corvette guy. He constantly has other ones he builds up, and flips. He is pretty successful at that. So one night we end up leaving at the same time. Which is unique, since his department usually lets out way earlier than mine.
We both talk cars, and go our separate ways. His route back home is the same I take, so we ended up at the light. He shouts "nice car, what you got?" I replied "V8 naturally, 300 horse". He then said "I got 300 horse as well!"
"Fine, but I win regardless," I said laughing. He was in a C4 automatic, stock. And those 300 horsepower are bound to be a little tired after all those years. I've run other C4's, and the outcome was that I had the edge.
In all our runs he got on it earlier from a roll, pulling away. I would close the gap and start pulling by the 2nd - 3rd shift. Pretty impressive for a old vette! But from a dig, I think I would take him faster.

My g-pops as old as he is has a stock automatic c4 (still drives it like he stole it hah). We went for a cruise when I was just intake, tune, and o/r x. We turned a corner and he was behind me we both mashed it and I started pulling away from him a decent amount. It wasn't much of a race, and it was all in fun. Although now it'd be a completely different story if we ran. The c4s are nice and all I just don't care for the lt1's, the ls1's on the other hand are a different animal lol.
Btw good runs.

Good runs man and nothing at all wrong with loosing to the new 5.0 like that! The vette I was expecting something close to that but it's cool someone wanted to stretch the legs on a c4 since you never really see that happen.
From a dig I think the vette would of gave you a better run for your money since the LT1 are bottom end torque monsters. Plus I've kinda always wanted a LT1 vette to play with.... Stall it full bolt on's with good gear and about a 200 shot on a stout dr and let her eat!!! haha
