Smile finally went drag racing last thurs nite

Finally got to Memphis on a Thursday nite and got to go drag racing with my uncle at memphis motorsports park. Made 8 passes. Question I have is are my times what they should be with my mods.
1st pass(dont laugh) lil nervous 14.70@101 w/ a 2.488 60'
2nd pass was 13.501@104.12 w/ a 2.179 60'
3rd pass(uncles 03 termi in the next lane) 13.123@108 w/ 1.991 60'
13.487@109.62 (fastest mph of the nite) 2.199 60'
13.235@108.89 2.019 60' (had a r/t of .060)
13.282@ 109.23 2.052 60' (lost on a hole shot to a 2011 ss camaro)
13.117@104.29 2.019 60' lifted way to early. Lol
13.852@106.87 spun bad off line and hit rev limiter in 3rd.
All launches after first pass were b/w 2000-2500rpms. No burnout. Just quick spin to clean off tires. Tires were only 2 days old.
Overall had a blast and got to see some sick super Chevy cars thay were at the track for the show on Friday and Saturday. Def hooked now and will be hitting up the local 1/8 track in Nashville on tues nites. But I've seen stock 11-12 stangs with e/t like what I did. I know first time out there hut should I be able to hit in the
12's with some more practice

For your first time at the track your times are ok. But in my opinion you can do a lot better. Faster times comes with practice. My first time out I could not get my 60' below 2.20. Last month I was at Alabama International Dragway in Steele, Al and my fastest time with a 2.032 60' was 12.655 et @ 112.96 mph on street tires. I have the 2012 GT/w Brembo package, 3.73s and Steeda's 93 oct tune. There were 2011 - 2012 GT's there that day with DR's that ran 12.2s and 12.1s in the 1/4 mi. I don't know if they had any mods.

Racing with street tires is always a crap shoot. Good times and it sounds like you had a blast.

What were your et's the first time u went? I ask bc u and i pretty much have the same car with thr same mods. I was told my 60' were really good for my first time being on a track. But do u really think there is a half a sec being left out there that will come with practice. I raced a kid in a 01-02 gt with cai and o/r x pipe running with the engine light on bc it wasn't tuned and he Hung with me till the 1/8mile then when I hit the end of 3rd gear and all of 4th I pulled away from him. 2nd gear doesn't seem to pull real hard and when I bought the car u could light the tires up in 2nd and 3rd just by putting ur foot to the floor. Doesn't do that anymore and hasn't for a few months now. The HP shows on the top end for sure but I couldn't get any better than 8.5 secs at 84-86mph in the 1/8mile. Will try to take some pics of the time slips later and post them up so hopefully some of you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong. First run yes I shifted just after 6k bc I was more worried about keeping eyes down the track. Last 7 passes I was shifting every gear at redline. Even hit the rev limited on the last pass and cut the fuel to the motor. Guess Gus st steeda sets the limit at 7300rpms. Can tell you that a couple of passes I felt like I was having a heart attack bc of the g force. Lol. Pretty neat feeling. Lol.

First time ever, those are good times a 13.1 . Now this is my opinion.. I have tunes from 4 people. And almost the exact same set up as you except a C&L cai.. now my steeds tune is my every day tune because of the torque management built in. Do you feel a slight lag when you shift gears? That's what that is, its fine it saves the drive train, also the steeda tune errors on the side of caution and its rich, which again daily driver, when I go to the track I load either bama 93 race or brooksspeed 93. They are faster, leaner and zero torque management, now you will be quicker, lose tires faster and punish the drive line more, however you will drop from a 13.1 to a mid 12 ... now I never insulted or said any tuner was bad the steeds drive ability every day is superior just not at the track. Also this is only my experience. I suggest finding someone in your area with the tunes and try them

Yes exactly what it feels like when I shift. Kinda like it winds up. Thanks for understanding what I was saying about the feel. At least someone else feels it too. Im going to get it dynoed in a couple of wks and will see what says. And I've always thought the tune from Gus was a bit rich. Just wish they would do a race tune. The throttle response is good but the hesitation after shifting has always made me think something was wrong with the car. But no lights have ever been on. So I guess its good.

60s look pretty damn good for a first timer! Especially that 1.9!

Sounds like you're shifting up high like you should, 60s are OK, so that really comes back to the tune as potentially being a big part of the problem.

Also need to know what the DA looked like at your track that night. I can look it up if you're not sure how to go about it. You should be able to run much faster with those mods however. There should be mid-low 12 in that car.

thanks stone for the compliment. i was thrilled when i saw it. that was against my uncle in his 03 termi making 523rwhp. he went 1.935 and 11.5xx at 119. and since starting this post i am beginning to think that the tune i have is great for daily driving but i might want to get a race tune to use at the track or a dyno tune. thanks again for the response and compliment and assurrance that the car will go in the 12's. def going to be doing a lot more drag racing at my local 1/8 track in nashville. rained today and tonight so no track night tonight. next tues.
not sure how to look up DA for the track on last thurs night the 12th. but the temp was in the low 60's. raced from 5pm to 7:30pm
