Pulled up to a light and a gray speed 3 pulled up along side of me. Light turned green and we both started off easy and about half way through first he hit it. I followed suit and buried my foot in the loud pedal. On the 1-2 shift I started to spin and I think he had some traction issues as well. I stayed at his rear door/bumper until I let out at around 75. The lane he was in turned into a turn only lane so I let out to let him get over. He never did though, blew through the next intersection and rode down the shoulder until he made a right down a side road.

It had exhaust work and some stickers. I don't know if it had any other mods. Had a hood scoop, look like this...

nice run dude , you could have beaten him from a dig as they are FW cars , now from a roll different story , nice run nonetheless . Btw that scoop is functional in the new models speed3 old models used to get lots of heat soak as the inter cooler sits on-top of the engine . They're fun cars to drive just a weak platform to mod,I had one and blew up .

Yeah when the guy pulled up to the light he wouldn't look over at me or anything, just stared straight ahead. But I'll take what I can get. It was the first time something even remotely fast has pulled up besides me in awhile lol.

What is the best way to address the issue on those model of MS3's? My brother has one and were wanting to mod it once he gets out of the military. I'm kinda reluctant though because I know about this issue and I have a really hard time taking the FF under my wing. I might try to talk him into an evo or something. What makes it such a weak platform? Just overall not real good as responding to mods or holding up to extra power?

Its kinda weird but I have a mandatory rule of never ever looking over and other performance cars. I don't look over period really. If people wanna get it they'l get it. I'm not into the mean mugging ****. I know they are there they know I am there.

 

your brother may be fine with basic mods , like turbo-back exhaust , fmic , upgrade the fuel pump , motor mounts, shifter , bov , and a tune , but if he decides to upgrade the ko4 turbo to let's say a gt3071 or gt3076 ( had it on my speed3) he's playing with fire , internals on that car are a pos , pass 345 fwhp and the car may go boom at any time , in my case , piston pin on cylinder 2 broke loose , damn thing open three holes on the block , lucky for me I knew the mechanic at ocean mazda and they order an engine under warranty . I put the car back to stock , sold all the performance parts and traded it for a mazda6 v6 .

 

With your mods, anything from a second gear roll and you "should" get beat by a few lengths to 100mph, after that it would get even worse.

1st gear they hardly make 200whp, 2nd is a little more, it's only until they hit 3rd gear that they make full power. And you really need the driver mod to get the best out of these cars.

Sucks the guy was such a DB, idk what he thought he was going to prove, i mean he is driving a freakin station wagon...
