1st time at track =(
Just got back home from first night at the track. Bone stock pass 1 was 14.1
Pass 2 was 13.9
Come to the conclusion that i can't launch for sH*T and for some reason i've developed this new paranoia that something is wrong with my car. only since i ran the two passes. It's a brand new 13' with 1500 miles on it that i feel i broke in very well. i guess i feel that way because i've never pushed the car to it's limits like i did tonight. But i mean i didn't buy a 302 for nothing right? Surely the motor will be okay to track every now and then?
What do you guy say? It's okay? or give up the track?

I saw a guy with a white '13 GT running high 13s and low 14s at the Midnight Drags a few weeks go. Don't feel too bad, just get more practice.
And no, I'm sure there is nothing wrong with your car. Its probably all driver.

How experienced are you at drag racing? Can you post up the details of your slip, what RPM were you shifting at? Etc?
We could give you some tips to work on to make your next trip more enjoyable. Drag racing is fun, especially if you have a group that goes. Never get disappointed over your times, especially in a car that is new to you and if you are new to drag racing period. Can't expect to jump in the pilot seat and be running 12s out the gate.
Majority of drag racing is the launch. A tip if you're a beginner is don't worry about the lights. Let the other person go, the tree is only there for reaction time which isn't important if you're just trying to see how fast your 1/4 mile is. That way you can concentrate on what you're doing, instead of getting worked up about trying to beat the guy in the next lane.
A side note: Last time I went to the track was an 1/8 mile only. There was a new '12 there, that had some aftermarket stuff. Some engine goodies, CAI, Boss Intake, etc. I think I beat him 2 out of 3 times; and my car was not even performing at its best. I think I might've been running 7.8-8 second 1/8 miles.

Nothing is wrong with your car lol my old 3v has made about 100 track passes over the years and she still runs out good. You will learn to not be paranoid after you go again and get the hang of it. What did you drive before the 5.0?

Good job on the passes. I'm sure I'd be the same in my '13 seeing how I've never been to a track in my life. To bad the only one that was close to me closed two years ago due to the city. Keep trying and let me know if you come up with a good rpm for launches.
