Sprayed fox vs cammed. C5 z06
88 fox body coupe. Mods:
Stock bottom end. Either stock e7 heads or gt40 heads, e303 cam, tfs intake mani, tb maf cai udp's e- fan shorty headers o/r x-pipe 3.73's and a 75 dry shot bottle pressure 850-900psi.
02 z06 vette. Full bolt on's and torquer v2 cam? Correct me on this ls1 guys if I'm wrong. And nitto dr's and 412whp on a dyno jet.
A few ppl was hanging out at the chill spot and been trying to get somebody lined up to run but everyone was wishy washy about doing anything. Well my buddy in the coupe pulled up and we ran up to him to see if he wanted to run the z06 before it left for the night. He jumped out the car and said to me "I dont care but your gonna run him!" Lol so I sure okay!
My first time driving a car with spray on it plus it was on a window switch. He had it set real low at 5200 so i told him to put it at 5500. Well the window switch and the tach didnt match up, By the tach the spray was cutting off at 5200 and i kept shifting at 5500. Just had the mind set there and the hype from racing again lol.
To the run!
20 roll the vette honks it off and i matt the go pedal and I pedalled it expecting to spin when it didnt, so the vette put me to his back bumper through 1st, as I run 2nd out as he puts another 1 1/2 cars on me. We keep on going as the the sexy tail end of the vette gers further and further away; with me shutting down at 5200 in 4th the vette had a solid 5 cars on me! Well he stayed in it till 150 haha (nobody on the road but us)
Well a procharged 98 cobra @ 13psi ported heads, lt's, with 4.30's (bought the car like that), caught up with the vette. 1st run cobra starting in 3rd from a 35 roll while the vette is in 2nd. The vette jumps hard and puts a 2 1/2 car lead on the cobra and stays like that till 140. 2nd run 45 roll and cobra in 3rd vette in 2nd. cobra got a slight hit and stayed nose to nose till the cobra went to 5th with the vette 1/2 car out then they shut down at 140 with the vette 1 1/2 cars out.

Sounds about right.. as good as a sprayed fox is that Vette still has a good chunk of power over it.. The Cobra would have probably had a better chance with different gearing.. sounds like a good run though
Yea we knew the fox was going to loose but didn't know how bad. He's going to put the 100l jets in and put my slicks on it and maybe try it again when we get the car more dialed in.
The guy in the cobra wants to put 3.73's in his car and get a set of drag radials or slicks for it. When the rpm's get up in 3rd gear it still starts to spin haha too much power and gear and not enough tire.

Yea, some 3.73s will help him a lot, let him ride the boost instead of shifting so much.
Just let me know when, can get him and that cammed GTO lined up.

I know lnow if you did come out we could get some stuff fired up. Probably wouldnt hurt to do some friendly trash talk either lol.
Cobra deff needs some 3.73's and he's working on getting that done. But the cobra has been tunned (mustang tuner in western nc?) Its suppose to have texid block still with 03/04 cobra crank rods and pistons. Dont know how much truth to that tgere is but the rev limiter has been turned down to 6450 and was suppose to have made 461 or 481whp.
