Default Drag Racing

I know that I may get flamed for this but I'll post it anyway...
Drag Racing is done on dragstrips. Period. Someof us spend a high per centage of our time and incomes on this. This is a lawful, acceptable way to spend your time.
Street Racing is nothing more than reckless driving done by people who probably don't give a F**K about anybody or anything in the world. This is an illegal, non-acceptable thing to do. I'll not comment about the time and income level spent doing this.
IF THE SHOE FITS, WEAR IT.........

thats one of the reasons street racing is what it is. some places there arent any tracks, and we ALL know that drag strips arent open 24/7. plus, some people think its too expensive, which i dont, but like i said, strips arent open 24/7. streets are

the 2nd bold statement.......IS BULLSH*T !!!!! that PERSONALLY pisses me off. where my friends and i race, is at the base of a mountain, with nothing around us but woods and a flat, straight piece of asphalt. we do care about people, and THATS why we dont race in town like all the god damned ricers. OK ??!! that is the biggest load of crap that ive ever heard. just b/c we street race dont think we dont care. when we race, if we see headlights, we dont even pull out. and the only headlights we usually see are semi's going across the mountain to either go to WV, or come into VA. so, you may not condone it, which is fine with me, but dont judge the ones who do do it. OK ?!

There is a time and a place for everything, although I am a track racing advocate.

I guess I wear the shoe. If you don't like it, too bad! Just because you don't, doesn't mean others don't. I race SAFELY! I have NEVER been in, or caused an accident while racing. Your arguement is pure unadulterated BULLS**T!! Bite me!

Honestly, I think you watched The Slow and The BiCurious a few too many times. If thats what you think real street racers do, you need to get out more. We go out to the middle of nowhere. 1 or 2 races gets off, and then we leave. We try not to let too many people know. There are usually only 5 or 6 of us there. Someone preps the road. The cars line up, run, and we leave. No BS. No 50,000 people there. Empty road. Middle of the night.

Come on. How is that endangering the lives of others?

Sorry, I should have clarified. I RARELY race in town. US101 goes trough town, as a city street. The CHP along with the police and sherrif's dept patrols it OFTEN. I do my racing on open highways mostely. There is one stretch called State Route 299. Lots of twisties mixed witrh long straights. It's a racer's dream.

Whatever. Most of us live by the laws of common sense. That means you don't race in places where you're likely to hit someone or something. It's definitely true that most street racing is done out of the way so that no cars get in the way, no people start calling the cops because of the noise, etc. Guys around me pick places where the only thing you have to worry about is deer which could jump out in normal driving anyway. I've seen a few interstate races but they usually don't last long enough to become insanely dangerous. The important thing is to use common sense. It's not wreckless like drinking and driving, you're still sharp, alert, and in control of your vehicle. If you think street racers don't use caution, you're crazy. I'm not condoning it but it's not exactly black and white. There are alot of laws out there because it would become a legal nightmare to take the time to figure out when an activity actually poses a serious threat, and when the threat is mild or at a minimum (such as normal driving). Obviously an elderly person with the reaction time of a turtle would be much more dangerous in a street race than someone in their mid 20s who has a good mix of experience and reflexes. Certainly drag racing in the rain would be much more dangerous than in a dry open area. Around twisties, worse than a straight away. In traffic, much worse than on an empty road. In town, much worse than an empty area outside of town. There are precautions taken and people with good sense of judgement know when to back off. It's not exactly like the track is surrounded by pillow fluff and cars can't blow up there. On the street you don't need to worry about big pieces of metal or a rolling out of control fireball flying into packed bleachers. As a general rule, I say, take it to the track. But there is a time and place for everything and I can't say that I've never had a friendly automotive accelleration contest out in the middle of nowhere.

Your not telling anybody anything they don't already know, except what I highlighted. Your entitled to your opinion, but if you don't like what others do or say here then don't read it. FWIW I used to street race alot more, now I do most of my racing on the track, mainly because "real" street racing is almost dead in my town. But like sidewayz said when we do it, it is most likley unlike anything you have ever seen or done, so please don't lump everyone into the same group (ie the Fast and Furious crowd).

PS. If you are such a high and mighty drag racer, why don't you have a timeslip posted??
