Whats up all you mustang guys i need HELP!! this weekend i have challanged a stock 05 evo and i am planning on beating it. This is for bragging rights at my school. I use to have the fastest car in school but then some kid outta no were got this 05 evo and i was furiouse so ive been trying to challange him this is what i got in my 71. Bored .030 over, Headers, Full straight exaust, 9.5 flat top hyper's pistons, 670cfm carb holly, Air gap intake, Cleaned up heads, cam is a edlebrock RPM cam .496 intake .520 exaust duration 224/234. 3.80 rear end with a posi. kind of crappy tires. electric fan. That about all i can think of anyone think i could beat this kid??!?!? also i need idea's to squeeze more power outta of this beast quick[&:]

Looks like you bit off more than you could can chew, unless you get that 71 to hook you don't have much of a chance. More over who cares that the kid has a faster car than you big deal, theres always sombody faster, maybe you could just be cool about it and not act like you have something to prove.

 

Ya you need really good traction which it doesnt sound like you have. just do a crazy smoke show and you can prove a point of how badass your car is.He cant do it in an awd evo

LOL yea i dunno i beat a RSX by a couple car lengths and he said he ran 14.7's i guess but o well lol the kid can't drive and i drove his evo and those things are dog's off the line untill like 4500 rpm when the turbo spools... ill do some crazy burn out get him all scared and i havent even put 10K into my car and his is a 35K car if i did that to mine i would be all kinds of fast haha. o yea i got a question if i made like a box thing that goes onto my carb with two intake tubes going off of it to the front of the car with like two K&N filters on them how would you think that effect my performace cause i am doing that starting tomarrow

 

The Evo will pull a 1.7 60' time stock if driven right, it's AWD a 5500 rpm launch is all it takes

 

don't evo's and sti's explode when launched at 5500? or is it just one that has issues?

 

I don't know about the STI but I have a friend with an EVO that rins 11's and launchs at 5500 and thats with a performance clutch and a stock trans, so far no troubles. The thing about launching any car is that people think you just dump the clutch, you really don't, you slip it out very fast and it's a lot easier on things. People who just dump it break stuff.
