I know I don't post in this section often but I'll give some personal prospective on the E46 SMG M3. I have an 05 GT (5MT, 3.55 gears) with intake/tune/OR exhaust/suspension/tires and my best friend has a 2005 E46 SMG (bone stock) and it's a handful. From a dig I seem to be able to hold him off by a car or more to triple digits. From a roll it really depends on where we start. I can pull a car on him and actually gain more from 50mph, but if we start below 50mph he seems to stay even. From a 75mph roll he always pulls a bit but I end up reeling him at the higher speeds. I've raced this guy more than 10 times and it seems to matter more how I drive than anything else....

Oh, and I'll just leave this right here...

I don't have any suspension drag related. Just h&r SS springs and bilstein hd's. Lca's for an IRS are super expensive as well. What do you recommend for my suspension?

You have an IRS swap? Then I'd just do the full bushing upgrade so it doesn't wheel hop, and buy the stickiest tires you can afford. I've seen people run 60-foot times in the 1.40s on the IRS...

I had a new 2012 M5 run me from a 45 roll and then from a dig. From the 45 roll he put it on me pretty good. From a dig it was a whole different story.

Hit it from a Dig, everyone wants to run gay *** rolls anymore from high MPH, whats that prove? One of 3 things 1. You can only race a dyno slip and have no driver ability. 2. cry it can't hook cause you cant drive or can't build anything but a dyno slip. 3. Your flat out scarred.
Roll races take out 90% of the skill involved in a race. I guess I can understand why all the turbo ricers wanna do a Roll cause that's generaly the only way they have a chance but I can't understand all the v8 guys wanting to do a roll.

Some people never will 'get it' there is a whole list of reasons. This is no different than the corner carvers not getting drag racers or vice versa.

It's all about convenience out here. Especially considering when I see this guy and my school/work schedule. He's a big douchebag in my eyes and honestly is annoying.

Its tough to go from a dig in a lot of areas, thats why people roll it. Hell, doing roll runs are a challenge in most areas unless you're lucky enough to leave in the country or close to a track. I love going from a dig, its what my car does, but I take what I can get when I can get it...still talking about racing btw

Most of the "fun times" happen from a roll. It is rare to come up on someone like-minded at the right set of lights. To talk about that... I hate how those Japanese V6 front wheel drivers go from a roll. They hang until you wind her out to redline. (or you loose horribly because they turbo'd the crap out of them...)
