Let us all just remeber that the Mustang did not start out as a muscle car and that was not fords intentions. The intentions of ford was to make something somewhat comparable to a corvette with handling and sportyness. They were not out to beat the corvette. Hell the Corvette originated with a 6cylinder and the mustangs have had a 6cylinder or that disgusting 4banger since day one. A V6 mustang is just as much of a mustang as a V8 just slower...

The reason that ford brought it out was because they were hearing grief from consumers that the tbird was out of date and getting raped so they had to come up with something to get the attention of the baby boomers!!! ORIGINAL INTENTION BABY BOOMERS!!! and yep you are right about the pony car and the trans am series but, some consider the 69 429 MUSCLE or the 428 MUSCLE or the 390 MUSCLE!! I do anyway not hte 289 FOR SURE!!
