Ok fellas. How fast can these M3's get? I pulled up on one intentionally going to work and he went for it. When we both punched it, I didnt pull hard on him till 4th gear from 5500-6100. I had maybe 3 cars advantage before shifting to 5th, and it stayed like that. I was expecting it to get worse, but that M3 held his own from that point on. Those things have serious top end. Anyone know what these are capable of?

Me and my friend was coming home from the club one night in his Jag. and he was going about 110 or 120 and a M3 blew by us like we were standing still. They are pretty damn fast.

The newer M3 or the E46 whatever u wanna my dad has one with a borla catback and bbs rims its pretty sweet but ive got a modded 2K GT I've beaten the m3 in every thing except handling (wich the are the god of turns) and top end, topend for an M3 depends on wether or not they have had the governer taling out governed they have a top speed of 150 and without a governer its 185 wich basicly means its a awesome highway car.

Top speed is one thing, but accelerating to it is another. I figure I had at least 100hp more at the rear, but the way he stuck with me revving on 5th gear didnt seem right. I figured I should've walked him hard...but not. I know they have blowers for those things too. What a freak of nature if I happened to just run across one with a s/c. But then again, he often do you run into a blown 4.6L, and an 05 at that. Oh well, I still got the win.

checkout this 444rwhp s/c E46 revving to 8K rpm's.. pretty sik:

nice run. the M3's are quick. glad you beat him. theyre made to handle though. they are quick yes, but, theyre made to go fast thru the turns. and for high speed handling of course.

Yah..top end racers for sure. The guy knew it too. He would not let off even after I pulled him at the top of 4th. Normally, other cars give up by that point. One pass when I hit the limiter in 4th and went to 5th, he even pulled about a half car ahead since he stayed on it..but stayed there once my car recovered. On the good passes, I'd always take him top of 4th..get about 2-3 cars on him and stay there. Think I better take off the timing retard for daily driving

bmw's arent really made for the quarter mile, but ive seen plenty of Ms in the low 12s and high 11s...hell, while mine is no 12 second car, it has 220k on it, and will cruise along at 130mph like youre going 40, and it runs high 15s...(525i, computer, new clutch, catback, everything else is bone stock, and power everything). like i said, the bmw is no screamer, but its still a hell of alot of fun to drive on the highway, and to think that mine has very high mileage and was basically a "base model" 5 series. it was very cheap, as it needed some minor work, and the people who we got it from just didnt want to deal with it. i know that its no M3, but to see how this car has stood up to 200k+ is pretty impressive. i have also driven an M5 which had some work done to it, i believe that it was a 2003 or so. he ran 12.80s with it, and after driving it, the "Seat of the pants" dyno told me that it would have to run better if it didnt have some pretty douchebag slipping the clutch through every gear...

if you race a stock mustang gt on the interstate you will go faster if you leave it in 4th gear. i know it sounds harsh and you will push alot of RPM but some times you have to. my 93 GT will run 135 in 5th @ 3000 where the engine stops pulling but it will run 147 in 4th gear @ 5500.
