I race every week and it I only know of 1 evo that even comes close to me BUT WHAT IS UP WITH THE HONDA OWNERS TEARING UP THEIR INTERIORS? This is an average night at the track -

I run against some stupid import and smoke them. After a run I pull back into my pit area and the import owners come over and google at my car and ask to see the motor. I ablige them, accept the compliments and watch them go into 'red alert' mode. They hover over their cars scratching thier heads and whispering war strategies amoungst themselves. Next thing, they start ripping away at the inside of the car. Seats start coming out, radios get pulled, fabric starts flying around, and it looks like Wile-E-Coyote trying to quickly create the next acme rocket to catch road-runner. Then they walk over and smile and ask if they can run me again with their friends grinning behind them. I oblige and spank them by seconds again and then they shake their heads, go into 'war mode' again, put their crap back in their cars and go hit the line making sure to be next to one of their bretheren and not me. The next week, THE SAME THING ALL OVER AGAIN....

What possesess them to think shaving out 10 lbs of interior will make their car 2 seconds faster?

it's the imports that already have the interior gutted that you gotta watch out for. my buddy's 91 mitsubishi mirage looks like trash, interior is gutted, but it'd rock your world in the 1/4. he ran somewhere in the low 11s. i don't know, don't remember what he said, i'll just say 11.3 to be safe, since it's right in the middle of low.

 

Of course, there's a honda civic that is at Fontanna every month that runs in the 9's and blows everyone away (even the announcer) every week. They only let him get 1 run and they kick him off but they let him get his 1 run in every week. That car also comes and leaves on a trailer. I'm specifically talking about the guys who have only have minor engine mods and MAJOR exterior mods who are running in the 13's at best. There is a ton of them and they do this to me and the LS1 guys every week. It seems like it's the same group of guys too.

 

13s? most of the civics i've seen run with major exterior mods run like high 15s, low 16s.

 

Okay, I need to be specific and I'm not just talking about hondas either. Out of ALL the imports I said 13's AT BEST. The point is not what the imports are running, the point is why does ANYONE (not just imports) think that they will make significant power increases by ripping out their enterior right there at the track. Not the guys who have built their car gutted, but the ones who try to do it on the fly at the track. I've seen neons, and pt cruisers do it 2. I just think it's funny and wonder if they really think it's going to make a difference or their just having fun with their friends.

 

i know man. i'm just fartin around. we don't have the gutters around here though. you need to take a video camera and video tape them dong it. that'd be a good laugh.

that's why you only run like 12s. take out your head unit and seat covers and you'd be running low 11s all day.

 

Who cares really? let them think what they want. I dunno why you get worked up over something as inane as this.

 

better make sure they don't glue a wing on inbetween races.
