My friend is on the verge of picking up an SRT4. He's already starting to get cocky. I know he doesn't drive very good from the way he drove his camaro. I drive pretty decent...been driving 5 speed mustangs for about 10 years. My best time is a 14.02.
Think I can take him??? It's just a matter of time before we run 'em. Kind of looking forward to it!!!

 

with a 14.02, i'd say yes. that is, if he's as bad as you say he is. from a dig, you'd probably rock him, i heard srt4's are pretty hard to launch. if he races from a roll, he'd most likely rock you. which is probably what he'll want to do.

assuming of course, both cars are stock.

 

From a stop you will beat him by a pretty good margin. Those cars come off the line very badly. From a roll it is a drivers race. If you go from a 40 roll you will lose, 40 seems to be the SRTs best roll.

 

If we run from a roll it'll be a 10-15 mph roll. Real drag racing is from a stop in my opinion. If he does beat me we'll wait until spring and I'll have a few surprises for him. Maybe some LT's, midpipe, 4.10's... you know.

I ran against a srt4 on the highway just messing around on a long ride home from columbus and it was a good race i had a couple mods no gears or o/r pipe mainly just mufflers and it was a close run but i would always have 1 or almost 2 car lead on him anywhere from 55 to 135..i raced a 300zx tt from a stop till 90 4 times it was a drivers race he was sligtly modded and i had all mods beside my gears.. he won twice and i won twice it was who ever got the better launch.. but on the highway i was right with him til about 120 and he just crept away and away and away..we stopped and his buddy had a srt4 with few mods intake..exhaust..he wouldnt even try because he said the 300zx killed him from a stop evertime.... i say Gt All the way.. from my experience.

Most people I talk to say that SRT-4's are hard to launch as well, one guy I talked to said his SRT-4 will not build boost if he is spinning tires. I think from a dig you should take him, from a roll it will be a little closer but I would still put my money on you.

 

How many GT vs SRT-4 threads do we have here now?
If your best is a 14.2, the outcome is definitely in doubt. With a decent driver they can run 14 flat, maybe even a tick faster. Just run 'em and find out, that's the only way to tell.

 

Hey all i got a 2006 Wrx that runs a 13.4 stock. See my sig for my mods and im running about mid 12s now.

SRT4s I walk all over all day.... there only good from the roll. Now grant it I got AWD boosting 17PSI with a 2.5l turbo.

GT should give it a run, be close though Do it from a dig for sure, dont race him from a roll or he may take you out by about a car lenght or two. Unless he sucks at driving lol then just kick his as$
