I know these are gettin old, but it will be 4 months till my car comes out after the winter so i gotta keep my spirits up.....This kid I went to high school with (we've been out 2 years) just got an SRT-4 (year 2004 model) it is stock now and his only "mods" are going to be rims and underbody neons (go figure) well already all i hear is smack talk about my slow "rustang" so naturally when the car comes out we have to settle this. My car is as follows,,,, 2002 Mustang GT auto, Boral stinger Exhaust, MAC strait shot Cai, accufab 75mm TB and Plenum and for x-mas i am getting 3.90 gears and the diablo sport tuner which will be put on right away. So in a 0-100 race or a 20-100 race (he probably will not want to go from a dig cause of the turbo) what will happen? thanks for any replies,,,,,
P.S. the other day I ran into a chevy caviler with a 10 foot wing and other assorted rice i raced him with my 98 jeep cherokee (my winter beater) and i embarassed him in front of his girl haha, fun, but somehow its just not the same.... i hate winter

I dont know.... If he drives it well he can prolly still get you with those mods & right he will definatly get you.

& Actually he has the advantage from racing at a stop. He has almost NO LAG, hell these SRT will boost 10psi with no load on stock turbos just from reving the damn things... & also he can launch. He also has another advantage from a roll because then he could "brake boost" & take off fully spooled.

 

ya i was thinkin that, hear those things are fast.......but this guy is a serious dumb ***...lets just say he upgraded from a escort with a body kit and rims (that woulb beat my bros V6 stang btw according to him) I dont think he knows the meaning of launch, i never had a chance to race one of these SRT-4's not a lot of em around here, my last race of the year was against a turbo jetta and i handed him his *** but i am assuming the srt is a different animal

 

From a roll you will prob. get beat. Race him from a dig and you should be able to run him. They are fast lil buggers so it should be good. If he keeps it stock and you have those mods I think you could beat him if you are equal drivers. Get a good launch with DRs and that will help a lot too.

 

If you can launch your car well then I say you will beat him. Especially if you get those 390 gears then you will hand him his as$

 

There are some really nasty SRT neons out there. Things are sort of put up for the winter here in upper NY, but the last weekend i was at the track I saw a Neon with the Chysler Performance parts turbo upgrade kill one of the new 425 HP Chrylser 300s that had headers and an air box: that big Chrysler sedan did a 12.4! The Neon killed him with an 11.91. Apparently they are almost engineered to be cheap and easy to upgrade, that's part of the Chrysler marketing focus to go after young, maile owners, so watch out!

 

From a stop or a 1st gear roll you will get him. You are going to have a very similar setup to what I had in my '04 GT auto. I raced a stock SRT-4 from a stop and a 20 roll and won both times. The guy I raced is a good driver as well. I pulled 2 cars from a stop and about 1.5 cars from the roll. If you go from a high roll you will lose.

 

from what i hear, SRT-4s aren't the easiest cars to launch. they come out of the holes like slugs (and it's not because of turbo lag). that's why a lot of cocky kids with them want to race from a roll. it requires no skill. alls they have to do is mash the gas pedal and go. from a dig, i'd say you got him beat if you got them 3.90s installed. from a roll, i might have to give it to him. stock for stock, a 99+ GT has beaten stock SRT-4s and vice versa from a dig. from a roll, the stock SRT-4 will generally hand a stock 99+ it's ***.

 

If he stays stock..and the mods you have you will win if you don't mess up..i have handed 2 srt-4's there ***..but im not stock and they were..so if he is stock then my vote is on you !
