05 GTO M6 vs. 03 Modded Cobra
Today my brother got back in town and I got to do what I've been waiting to do for 2 months since he got his car, and that is race his car.
His car is a 03 Cobra Coupe: Bassani LT's, Bassani Catted X, Bassani Catback, Ported Eaton Blower, Ported TB, Steeda CAI, 285 Nittos, 2.93 S/C pulley, Diablo tuned, and Vortech intercooler. The car put down 500whp the last time it was dynoed with the silencers in the exhaust in, so let's say now it puts down 502whp.
My car is a 05 GTO M6, with no mufflers, and the LPE CAI. T-stat is on the way.
Since we were on the interstate we decided we would play from some rolls. So we did.
50 roll, I hit 3 horns and we were off, I stayed right beside him until about 60 when he started to pull away, I hit 3rd and he pulls a little more. We shut down around 85 and he had put about 1.25 cars on me.
Now we try a little higher roll of 70. He hits the horns this time and I stay beside him until about 75 then he starts to pull, but still only puts a little over 1.25 cars on me by the time I shut down right before 4th which is around 100.
All in all, I was very happy with how the Goat did against his car. Now in all fairness, he did only have a 1/4 tank of gas which he told me keeps him from getting full boost.

He couldn't get full boost because he didn't have enough gas? I've never heard that before, but I'm not also 100% informed on superchargers. That just doesn't make sense to me somehow.
That's certainly not the case with turbochargers. I'd think he'd have even more of an advantage with the decrease in weight with a mostly empty tank.

nice.. how much hp can the ls2 handle stock say if you were to add forced induction on it..

One of the guys on the Corvetteforum ("CaptVette") just posted numbers on his C5 (LS1, which is 5.7 instead of 6 liters but otherwise pretty much the same as the LS2) after MTI put their intercooled Eaton SC kit on it. 521 RWHP.
For two years before switching out for the current C5R, I had a non-intercooled Eaton M-112 SC on my stock block in the Corvette and it eventually put down 480 RWHP with headers, 3" exhaust, etc., after a good deal of fussing with the tune. Always did more than 460 from day one. It seemed durable, too. It did lots of 1/4 mile passes and about 15000 street miles and near gave a problem. I sold the engine a bit over a year ago and it is now in a Mazda RX7 and has done about another 12000 miles.
I've had two stock-internals LS1/LS2s come apart on me at around 550-575 RWHP. One was in the Camaro, running about 400 RWHP N/A and it blew half way through a 1/4 pass the second time we ran a 175+ shot of NOS on it.
yea, i dont think he can drive that good if he only was able to get that many cars on that powerful of car. nice run against the cobra. did he have any traction problems though? he may not hit full boost if he had traction control on cause it could limit him from bogging down.. but i dont see a 1/4 tank of gas causing it. i hit full boost with almost being on E. but i have a different style blower than him....
