Finally got to race another E46 M3 with the s/c on. The last one I raced when I had the CAI/tune setup actually edged me since he punched it first and it was only stoplight to stoplight. This one was also stoplight to stoplight. I saw him enter the freeway up ahead and figured to try and zoom past him to get a bite. Well it was traffic being lunchtime so no room to play. I took my exit back to work and low n behold the M3 was one car back bhind me. Didnt think much of it, but after the second light, he tried getting next to me. There was a car there already, so he just swerved back directly bhind me. Light goes green and I go..punched it a lil to c his reaction. He comes with me, so I pull to the next lane over on the right and got into second gear. He bit and came up...paced for a bit and then we went at it. Practically even...I was too high on 2nd so I barely started to pull before I had to get briefly into 3rd and slow for the next light. We were side by side now at a redlight...hehe. Exactly what I wanted. Light goes green and we both go. 1st gear even...my second spun badly but the car was still accelerating away at the same time. He was 2-3 cars back by the top of 2nd going into 3rd again. There was a swooshing sound coming from his engine...not sure if an s/c too or just a cold air kit. Whatever he had, he tried exploiting my stang with it.
what #s are you puting down. i raced a newer m3 from a 40 roll and lost twice by 2-3 cars. of course that was when i was stock, only putting down 290 rwhp and had the disadvantage of no horn (i had to wait for him to punch it and actually initiate the race before i could drop a gear)
424rwhp/390 torque. I've raced one on the freeway to top speed also with my s/c...so I've beaten them both ways. The guy in the freeway just would not give up. I was past 4500 on 5th before we had to slow for upcoming traffic. Kind of surprised me how the M3 stayed with me within 5 car lengths to top speed. Think those things are underrated...or maybe he had some mods done. I'm beating them with the factory rev limiter too, so Im shifting at 6k. They, on the other hand, supposedly redline at 8k.
