Was driving down Rt 95 From NH to Ma at about 11 pm. Getting off the ramp to get on 95 I gun it to about 110 and notice a pair of headlights keeping up with me in my rearview mirror. Was a newer VW golf. We both start from about a 50 mph roll and take of. Instaintly heard his turbo's spool up and thought[&:]. We kept neck and neck up to about 145 mph and both let off. Whent again from a 70 Mph roll and was the same result, just let off at 130 mph. Never expected a little econobox to be that fast. [&:] Have more respect for VW's now.

 

The 1.8T isnt a econobox, do dont even get all that great of a gas milage compared to other car in its class. & their not all that fast... take alot of boost to get them really going.

 

I thought the 1.8T was as fast as a sixer stock. But dont those get it on with a few mods

 

yeah if you boost like 25psi it will run a 13 lol

 

I know a guy that has a GTI 1.8 but not the Turbo...


He got beat by a SHO...HA![8D]

 

If its a 1.8 GTI its deffinatly turbo... unless its the 2.0 SOHC golf
