Pontiac GTO is 3725 pounds. Only a couple hundred pounds
more than the MGT.
That 50+ year old driver must of been shiftin as slow
as he possibly could.
The 05 GTO traps about 4-5 mph faster than the 05 MGT.
That about the same difference as there is between an 05 Mustang GT
and the 04 Mustang GT.

He should of walked on by you.

A higher trap speed doesnt necessarily mean faster in a measured distance. I dragged my 93LX plenty of times, running 12.05 at 113 and the guy next to me ran a 12.01 at 117.....I still won, crossed the line first...he was coming on strong but I beat him to the mark. Thats how this race went.....he hit the 3rd honk, I dropped the hammer...got the jump on him, I know I was in second before he was because I heard him hit second after me. When I initially jumped i put a half a car length on him, then in second I added another half a length on him, maybe a little more. I shifted into 3rd and it stayed like that and I shifted into 4th at approx 5500ish....now he may have been creeping on me but when the 100mph mark hit, I was still there by my approx car length.

Um, if you ran a 12.05 @ 113 and the other guy ran a 12.01 @ 117 he won.
You might of crossed the finish line first, but that just means he left the line
(had slower reaction time) later than you. It only matters who crosses
first in a "heads up" race that takes R/T into equation of your time as well.
He could of sat there until you crossed the 1/8th mile and THEN went and
if he posts a faster time, he wins.

Also, the race described with the GTO wasn't a "measured distance" race.
It was a SPEED race from a 20 mph roll.
In those circumstances TRAP speed DOES show your power and
having a higher trap speed means you will pull on a car with
a slower trap speed.
From a 20 mph roll (with equal drivers) an 05/06 GTO manual will pull away
from an 05/06 MGT.

Latest kill was several months ago, a 5-speed 2005 Mustang GT. It was close.

nope, I won...I bumped him out of the competition....I became the 12th car in the semifinals (only the top twelve were going to the semifinals...I only raced heads up as I do on the street) Even though he had the stronger car... I did beat him on reaction....as I did the GTO...when I took off, he had to play catch up...in the end I was there first...no matter if he has 400 hp or 1400 hp. In all theory he should of beat me if you look at hp to hp but there is more to it as in weight, rearend gearing AND transmission gearing. The GTO could of smoked his tires when he stomped it....I still beat him though. Im sorry if you have a hard time accepting it....and we can say it was a measured distance...probably about 1000 feet long.
