Default WRX Sti

Just wondering what kind of power these things make/ what kind of times they run (realistically not magizine times) Has anyone ran one of these? I saw one at my college today racing around and revving like a moron for no reason in the lot in typical ricer fashion. It was a subaru impreza with the hood scoop and the wheels/ brakes like the Sti it had no rear spoiler and was white and had a fart can. However it was badged as a WRX Sti. I dont know much about them but Any Sti i have ever seen was blue and i dont think they came with the standard ricer fart can, i couldnt tell if there was a turbo or not, it was kinda windy out and he was a little ways off when he fineally drove off. So what do u think? poser or for real? I believe these things are pretty expensive so i really dont see some one my age with one. Any thoughts?

^^ what he said

STis are rated at 300 crank hp from the factory, and I believe most dyno around 220ish at the wheels (AWD drivetrain loss is a lot more than RWD).

Shame he was being an asshat, but you'd be surprised how many people your age own cars like that. When I was in college a year ago or so I owned a stage 4 WRX, paid for and modified myself. I would have bought an STI, but at the time I didn't want to go that big and didn't feel like I needed a car with that much potential.

I still don't really hah. I will rarely drive this car to 100% of it's full potential, and probably 99% of the people who buy them won't either. They, as well as the EVO, are simply monstrous road track and rally cars bone stock.

most ppl and magazines claim 13.1-13.4ish but any idiot that does not know how to drive them correctly, which is most ppl that own them, wont post times of any better than high 13s and low 14s.. there were a bunch of them up at Da Grove, the local drag strip, that were running 14.0s consistantly, so for the most part they are meant for a rally/road course, not a drag strip.. im sure many ppl will argue that point, but thats just my 2 cents

There has been a couple people who've gotten 12.9's with a STOCK STI.
Many who've gotten 13.0-13.3
Most get 13.3-13.5

On a AWD Dynojet they put down 235-240 hp.
When my Legacy GT was stock I dynoed 206 on the same dynojet.
Mustang Dynos (the dyno name) usually read about 10% less.

The STI is not hard to launch at all.
Bring revs up to 5000 or so rpm's and
slip clutch out VERY fast as you floor it.
Never dump the clutch and slip it out too slow and
it'll just burn the clutch...hate that stink.

What's tougher for many is shifting it fast and nailing
the shift points. The STI requires a shift into 5th in the 1/4....
yeah you heard that correct.
Since most people can't shift worth a crap, that'll slow the times!
