launching
launchin in a rwd v8 is like an experiment............you need the RIGHT variables, the right amount of those variables, etc, etc. try it at 3k......spin too much, take it down to 2k...........bogs down, take it to 2.5k, etc, etc. i can launch right around 1300rpm's and it hooks up, yet doesnt bog, so, voila.
i found it much easy to launch at like 1500rpm's, anything else id just spin like a bitch. i need new tires . my best e/t is 14.065, i pulled a 2.1 60ft and that was launching at 1500rpm. just experiment and tell us your results
normally what i do is get the car to a roll be just not dropping the clutch but letting off it slipping it real fast to just alittle past the gripping point... so so it may chirp tires sometimes... then i ease on it through 1st gear and part way through 2nd and then i gun it and im gone.... (this is with street tires on my setup)... that is with some spin at the end of 2nd and i shift it alittle softer into 3rd so i dont spin badly. same with going into 4th.... when i use to be n/a.. i would launch at about 2k rpms... i would slip the clutch real quick to get to a rolling start then i would floor it once i was rolling at say like 4 mph and that would be the best way to get it for me..... the best i ran was a 2.2 60' on stock tires while having gears and everything... i spun alot though at that track only coming up with a 9.4 @78.. i havent ran it at the better track around here yet....
