I wouldnt consider it a family car. It like the SRT4 Neon and the Cobalt just slow as hell.
at least you had fun killing the mazda, but you talk an awful lot of crap about the SRT-4 in that phrase right there considering they can dip into 13's stock and a 98GT is in the 15s

I meant that sentence in the way like the car is factory forced induction. I know a SRT-4 is a quick car even stock just because of the power to weight ratio. Just thought I would clear that up.

Mazdaspeed Protege's come with a turbocharged 2.0 pushing out 170hp and 160lbs/tq. The
0 to 60 speed is like mid 7's, so not very fast for a turbo'd car. Nice kill.
Are you sure it's mid to high 7s? Cause I have 160/111 and my car will put down 0-60 in 7.1-7.3 seconds.

Thats what I've read in many different places, and I know a guy who ran a low 10 in the 1/8 in his, so I dont know what that would equal in the 1/4.

going off edmunds.com... which is all I can do, I guess it is high 7s.

170 hp 160 ft lbs 2843 lbs & 0-60 in 7.9 seconds.

Reading some reviews, I'm finding it funny to hear that a lot of the owners of these Protege's are calling them "Civic Killers".

7.9 seconds vs the 7.3 (at the worst) 99-00 Si and the 6.9 second 06 Si... and both of the Si's are naturally aspirated.

w00t there is a car out there slower than mine!!! [8D]

It is funny though, that a turbocharged 2.0 is only pushing 170hp and my 1.8L N/A Celica has 180hp. Trust me, theres plenty of cars slower than yours.

I'm sure with a chipped ECU and a boost controller, that Garrett T25 is capable of A LOT more boost though.

Mazdaspeed isn't gonna max the engine's potential right from the factory.
