8.8 swap into a G body
Hey guys, my name is Tim and I'm new here so please be gentle. I hope this is the right section for this post. I have an 85 Olds Cutlass that I'm switching over an 8.8 rear end into because GM 8.5 rears are impossible to find as are 12 bolts. At least around here where I live. Don't really want or need a 9 inch so the 8.8 seems the best answer. Now what I have been looking for is the right parts to do this once and not buy things I don't need. I want to use an 8.8 housing with Fox body length axles, disc brakes and 31 spline axles. I have the housing, an extra Explorer 8.8 inch rear with 3.73 gears, limited slip and 31 spline axles. I'm only using the diff but will be switching to 4.10 gears. The 98 Explorer also has disc brakes if those are usable too. Will also be ordering new Fox length axles. What calipers/ brackets/ rotors will I need to keep it as close to the Fox body width? I know I have to redrill the axles and rotors since I already have new wheels. An adapter isn't a problem if need be ,but I am pushing 450hp with a 150 shot coming later so strength is of importance. I already know what is involved in mounting this rear into my car. Just need the right combo of axles and brake parts to finish . Thank you and any response is greatly appreciated. Tim.

WOW!!! I thought I was one car guy to another car guy with a question and instead get a smart *** answer. If you didn't know you shouldn't respond with such an idiotic remark. But to everyone else, I found the information I was looking for. If I need anymore questions answered ,I'll make sure to use another forum. Shame it takes one dick hole to ruin everybody elses reputation.
