Hey guys. Just picked up my 04 Mystichrome convertible, and i'm looking to do an audio system upgrade. It really burns my @##$ that ford doesn't offer the MACH 1000 for the cobra. That looks like a way better audio system. Anyway, i'm looking for more overall power and loudness, not really looking for just bass. I got a quote for a 500watt J&L AUDIO amp, JL Stealthbox 10" sub and crossover's for the existing speakers for 1,700 installed. I was even thinking of calling ford and pricing the MACH 1000 system, if its compatible for the cobra's. So what do you guys suggest? What kind of systems do you have in yours? Thanks Dan

I would not buy the mach 1000 from the dealer. They will overprice that big time. Umm i would go with some 12's. 10s hit 12's thump and 15s are just loud. lol I also like rockford subs better then jl but if thats what you want thats fine. To save you some $$$ try using a generic amp instead of a J&L. I did that for my explorer a while back. Had a friend with a rockford amp and i went out and bought like a legacy amp with the same power. Hooked up each amp to see a difference and there was very little. His amp cost about 450bucks while mine cost about 200. So that could save you some $$$.

hey interceptor, keep in mind the mach 460 does not run on conventianal 4 ohms, like all cars do. when replacing stereo parts, you have to replace ALL! head unit, amps, speakers, tweeters, subs. I was going to put new speakers in my cobra, but the local audio dealer told me about the little prob. oh well, the 460 is pretty good
