Just bought an 03 Cobra and its leaking oil somewhere around the oil filter. Theres oil around the filter and its also leaking from somewhere else i cant tell where.
The car only has 4,000 miles on it. Has this happened to any of you SVT owners?
Any ideas of what it could be?

 

I would take it to a dealer ASAP!! In a worst case scenario, it could be a cracked block. I pray that is not it!!! It should still be under warranty with that amount of miles!!

 

The factory warranty isnt on there anymore. The build date on the car was in 2002 so the time expired. Im going to be pissed if its a cracked block. The funny thing is the car seems to be running fine, and it seems like the oil dosent leak all the time. Taking it in tomorrow to get it looked at.

 

try tighting the oil filter

 

I had the same thing happen to my GT...turns out something jumped up and hit the filter causing it to leak oil. Replace the oil filter and see if that does the trick.

 

Just took it to the shop and turns out i need a whole new oil housing and some adapter. Costing me $900. Im pi$$ed.
