This is more about the SVT mustangs. I am on the market for a newer SVT. I was looking at the 99s or 01s. From what i can tell they are both very similar. What are the differences? Any major ones? Lets say a 99 and 01 svt pull up along side each other, any differences? Please reply, it would help me out so much. Thanks

oh yeah, the most obvious question i could ask, i didnt. Is a 99 cobra a good one to get. What price ranges should i look for and is there anything i should avoid?

 

99/01 are exactly the same...the 99's had a recall, due to low hp, but they were all fixed...just get the best deal u can get

 

I wouldn't say the 99s are exactly the same as the 01s.

There are some manufacturing differences between the 99 & 01 intake/headers. The fix approved by FORD in 99 went with aftermarket pieces to appease the customer back-lash for the lack of advertised power. Those manf. problems were corrected in 01.

Picking up a 99 would require a little research and concern (driving habits and maintenance).
I'd suggest getting an 01 instead, less concern about the fix. You'll still have to worry about how well the vehicle was maintained but the difference in price should be negligible.

The recall and associated rework is the reason there was no "consumer" SVT Cobra for 2000. All that came out for the 2000 production year were the 300 Cobra R's.
