Are you tryn to point out that in the DOHC 4.6 motor responds better to basic bolt ons? I did a search and the LT's for 5.0's hurt the low end torque but give a good top end. couldn't find a dyno v. DOHC 4.6 theirs a guy with a 99 Cobra that has gotten 291whp and 293wtq w/ LT's and a K&N Filter. Is that good whats the stock #'s on a 99 Cobra?
I was just saying price wise.. you will see about the same gains on both cars.. but there is about a 300 dollar difference between the headders for each normaly.

The 99 is rated at 320 hp. so yeah thats about where it should be with those mods.

oh, ur tyn to point out that the 5.0L is cheaper to upgrade than the 4.6L. I already knew that but if i buy a second car i want it to last a while w/ minimal maintence except for the original wear and tear. Thats why i was looking into getting an 96-97 cobra b/c the block is already strong as hell. The second car would just be a second car so that i won't put so many miles on my 06 stang i have now. I already know that before put a blower on my car that i'll need to rebuild the engine w/ forged rotating assembly and send the trans out to get rebuilt.

My question to you is how reliable is the 96 Cobra w/ 110,000 miles? What are the normal problems that arise? If i where to rebuild the engine would it be like new and last another 100K+ miles? What kind electrical problems are known? and How much money i could expect on fixing a 96 Cobra Vert? If it proves to costly and not worth it i might just end up slapping a turbo on my 4.0L V6 Stang and call it a day. Rygen just got his Powerhouse turbo and is pushing about 320whp @8psi. Not bad for a six

I have a 97 with 125k on it... it runs great, drives great.. compression tested exellent, dynoed above stock with just a filter, and I have not found any parts that were replaced or pulled previously... I poped a seal in the rear axle when I got sticky tires but what do you expect with a 5k launch? Lol. Other then that, the only things on this car that I have replaced are normal wear items or mod's. They are very solid cars.. lots of people have around 200k on them since they are great highway cars due to how they rev.

Sent ya a pm.

Damn, I'm seriuosly think about buying a 96 cobra once i've saved enough reason being is that my parents baught me my stang that i have now and its not even in my name, and it would get more whp ant wtq w/ a cobra than it would cost me for a brand new stang.

how do these mods sound in order?

1. start w/ the big mods then work my way down KB s/c mild psi and tune
2. T56 trans(Gotta love the extra gear
3.rear suspension
4. bullit wheels

that should take me a couple years to complete so how do you think that ride would be?

First off if you start of with big mods then work your way down, you will be doing it *** backwards. For say you start off with a kb sc but if you dont have the suporting mods for it, you wont see its full potential.

I know but its harder to save up for the big mods. anyways the only supporting mods that need to be done is H-Pipe exhaust ST headers and mufflers. Of course i'll get an aftermarket fuel pump and intake should come w/ KB. That should be about it, b/c i don't plan on funning insane amounts of boost to begin with. W/ the stock internals i'll only run at most 8psi but 6psi for Daily driving. Then later on i could get 3.73 gears and beef up the rear end if necessary. I know the stock trans on the 96 cobra is gonna handle about the same amount of power as the stock pistons and push rods. As long as i don't get greedy w/ da psi then i'll be fine.

and By supporting mods for KB the only thing that i can think of besides doing an total engine rebuild and bore is doing the exhaust which wouldn't be that hard to do and gears.
