Uh oh.... looks like there has been a clumsy mechanic running through this thread because he seems to have dropped a tool. Oh look he labeled it..... 95LT1.

Anyone know the owner of the tool 95LT1? Anyone know any clumsy mechanics that may have dropped their tool?

LMAO!! I've been watching this forum for a few days now (some healthy research into how the other side lives), but it was this post, and it's reply's that got me off my **** and joined up!! You guys are SLAYIN a fool!! Okay, he's my $.02; We all drive American Muscle Cars. We All Destroy Rice on a day to day basis. I know there's a healthy rivalry between the F-body, and the Stang, but it's only surface tension at best. The F-body is a superior vehicle off the assembly line (listen to the rest before you flame me), but it also cost almost $4k more on the show-room floor. If you dumped $4k into a new Pony, it would easily be up there w/ the Z28's / Formula's. Also it's running 5.7lts of fun vs the 4.6 lts of fun. All this to say "The cars are different, and to each his own." I was born a Ford guy, but turned a corner one day, and found out what the Maro had in mind for me.... I'll never look back. The Mustang is a GREAT car. It's the original, and it coined the term "Pony Car." It outlasted GM because it was cheaper, and therefore more in the reach of American youth. The car gets better every year too. The 390hp model FOMOCO is touting now is one mean ****.. Just be carefull w/ the schmack talking, or you'll motivate GM, and possibly wake up a new generation F-body. [sm=smiley34.gif] Peace.

And after all that, I didn't even respond to the poster's question. The LT1 was a damn fine motor. I'd say top of the line as of 5 years ago. If he's got the K&N, plus say an 80mm TB, and you're stock..... You will NEED to be the better driver. I know a lot of people think the Stangs are lighter cars (at least it's the impression that's on the F-body world), but they're actually heavier. (If I'm not up to speed on the years in question, just chill, because it'd still be close) Some advice in your race, and I'm a total trator for this, but when you're at the posts, do a high RPM launch.... Give her say .... about 2,500, and dump her as hard as you can w/ out destroying your traction. Shift quick, and redline isn't always best, so get w/ some Ford buddies, and check their stock Dyno charts... You're going to want to shift no more that 100 RPM's above your peak TQ numbers. Stay in your powerband, and if he's a newb, you can still take it home. GL, and drive safe.

IntruderLS1 thanks for posting...no flaming for you. you seem like you've been talking to Mr. Education.
your right about the camaros ...they are quicker and always were (stock). Now as far as a stock 01 to an 97 LT1 basically stock ...nahh. If we were talking LS1 then it would be a different story. i could see it from a stop easy, all driver, but from a roll, highly doubtful. unless you just suck or the other guy rocks...which is possible. dont miss third and you should be ok. Don't get me wrong. I drive an 01 and i love it. if i were going to build a cost effective rocket ship ...i'd prolly be driving a LS1 WS6 or SS . However Cobra's are a little less common and i like the feel of mustangs. Both cars are great...i respect the car, just not always the driver

yeah, newer gts suck.. 14's for a 4.6 huh? Went to the Sacramento drag race/swap meet/car show... It was pathetic, those guys sucked at driving, most of them were in the 14.50-14.90 range, WTF? However, I do know that drag racing is only meant for good drivers, that is what racing is.. maxing out the performance of a car. SO, when you guys say, "with a good driver, it could do this.. and that..." No ****, it can!

Newer 2002 stock 4.6 GT- Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords article: 13.70s- tires, no spare/jack, cool air, good track, cool engine. Great drivers, powershifting..etc.

2003 Mustang Cobra- stock blown 4.6- 12.43 @110+ -- same conditions (and when someone says a stock cobra runs low 13's... they are full of ****)
2003 Lighting-- blown stock 5.4-- 13.4 --same conditions..

So, it goes to show you how not every car runs the same, and how drag racing should be pursued without ***** *** drivers who are afraid to take a car to its limits, like the ones in sacramento

Intruder LS1, are you a good driver, sounds like your techniques are wierd, shift 100 RPM's above your peak torque output? WTF? what if you make peak torque at 4,000 or 4,500? but I think that playing with your launch rpms and shift points will yield better times at the track. You want a little tire spin without bogging to bad. But, if you get 4.10s, bog will not a problem. Launch right, shift at a good point, probably in between peak torque and hp production, i'd say 5,000-5300: where most cars torque and hp usually cross (on the dyno graph) and don't granny shift it, then watch that LT1 sputter behind you. BTW, my bro had a 5.0 ('95 stock, save for flowmaster catback) and during the local organized street drags, he raced a '93-97 LT1 and lost by only 1 1/2 car lengths to it.. Shows you how horsepower and torque aren't always everything.. Driving like a badass is..

Wow...
I just got done talking with your so called friend Education... Hasn't seen you since the first grade!
However you can find some of this info on the I N T E R N E T ...it's a vast wealth of knowledge ...maybe you can find something out about cars before you make some comments like that.

13.8 ...pro driver here
What exactly did I not find? Find what on the Internet? Why don't YOU show ME where I am wrong? Is it impossible....YES it is.

and your not too smart when it comes to 1/4 mile number are ya?..well lets see here..one of the fastest time set for an ls1(pro driver behind the wheel that is) is a 13.3 and thats in a corvette..hell a 2001 zo6 on runs 13.0..a steeda q would eat that thing for lunch..check up on your research buddy and then come and run your mouth
Just going by that, you could very well be the dumbest person alive. Please research before telling me to research. If a ZO6 only runs 13.0 what does that say for the new Cobra? Since the ZO6 is FASTER than the new Cobra....fuggin tard
