Default 03-04 Cobra Engine

I currently have a V6 in my '99 and since I need to put a new engine in anyways I was thinking of putting in a 03-04 Cobra engine. Any problems I might run into with this? Any places I can find these engines at?

Your going to pay $12,000 to $15,000 for a 03/04 Cobra Engine. You are better off to just go buy a used 03 Cobra for 8 to 9 grand more.

Ummm, I won't be paying that much. It will be between 3 and 4 installed.

good luck on that one. you want an engine that works right? only way you are getting it at that price is if you steal it from someone elses car.

Well Red... if you are getting one installed for as cheap as you are saying, and the motor is not shot (as some of the 03s are due to a design flaw), then you are getting a steal... An unreal deal to be certain... But all of that aside... To make the move, you will need some of the support equipment like a boost/pressure guages, proper fuel pump, engine management system ("computer"), mass air meter, exhuast system capable of the increase, and most definately a stronger transmission... I think that I listed most everything you will need. If I think of more, then I will post again... It is a pretty heavy undertaking and would really make for one sweet ride, so I say do it... do it if it is the car that you want... Don't forget that you might need to upgrade your suspension, your wheels, and some of those other little things that make the transfer of that kind of power possible to get to the ground... Post some pics if you end up doing it. I think that it would be cool to see something like that come together from start to finish.

ok sorry about the last post. i got the prices wrong. it was going to be about 2500 for me to have a gt motor out of a 2001 saleen put in with everything i needed. and yea, to put another v6 in is only going to be 1500 so i dont know what yall get charged for work maybe its cuz the mech is a friend and all but to do everything including making me custom exhaust will only be 1000 for labor for the gt engine and about 600 for the v6. i already have my car lowered but i dont know if it is enough of an upgrade to handle the power, i had custom wheels and tires but i dont have them anymore but i will be getting me some 18's around the same time this engine goes in, and i already have a 8.8 with 3.73's. im trying to figure out right now if it would be better for me to go the cobra route or the gt route. im leaning towards the cobra route right now cuz im leaning towards re-enlisting when im in iraq which will be a tax free re-enlistment bonus. so the money isnt really a problem cuz all this will be getting done either while im in iraq or right when i get home from iraq. if i dont re-enlist i might have to go the gt route just so that i dont spend all the money i make over there on this swap. i was also thinking about putting in the t-56 cuz i do a lot of interstate driving as im stationed 5 hrs from home and i go home as much as possible to see my girl so i want that 6th gear.
