Sooo many naysayers on the subject of the terminator engine’s cost...'thought that I may need to throw in a couple of cents worth... I was in the market for a new motor for my ‘97 cobra a while ago. I ended up finding a terminator engine on eBay for $5500 (my last and final cheese ball bid was $5000 and I do regret it). It came complete from the blower to the pan with all of the accessories. The guy had gotten the motor from AEP (one of the best motor remanufactures) but ended up going a different route with his car. At the time I thought that I would only do good on the deal at that 5000 dollars due to all (and didn't end up being all that much) of the other parts and modifications it would take to make the car complete, so I stopped there... So, I am just trying to make the point that the Terminator motor can be found for well under 10 grand. But, it is the exception to the rule... I would also go the Cobra (complete car) route if I were in your position Red. You could get the v6 fixed, sell it for what you can get, and get the Cobra for a better base vehicle. I have never driven the '03/'04 Cobra, so you might need to take some of what I say with a grain of salt. But, I have had a few Mustangs over the years (that I have painstakingly modified), so I have some idea of the differences between the classes. So... I say that the Terminator Cobra has got to be one of the best (stock) Mustangs that Ford has put out (at least that can be bought at a reasonable price)... You really don't have to do that much to them to make for one sick beast of a car.... One more time... If you can afford it, go for the Cobra.

If you can find an 03/04 cobra motor for that deal ,then go for it!! My good friend just bought one a few weeks ago, off of ebay for 8500 dollars! It came with the complete wiring harness and that was it! We are doing an 02 GT motor swap to a cobra! He also bought the gas tank with cobra pumps too. Even the swap in a GT is getting expensive. For you V6 swap, you will have to change ALOT of things. The whole front suspension, cobra blocks are cast Iron, very heavy. You will have to have added suspension to support the added weight. Your car will have to be completely rewired. There are at least 75 more sensors on the cobra motor than on the V6. Your fuel system will have to be remapped and revammped. A returnless style has to be used with the cobra drivetrain and cobra computer. You could try aftermarket, but you will pay MEGA bucks for a stand alone system! Then comes the clutch, driveshaft, rearend, brakes, guage cluster, theft system for guages has to be remapped. As you can see, it will be a very time consuming and costly upgrade!! But if you have the knack, I wish you the best of luck! It can be done and has been done, but at what expense? And don't pay extra if you go the (Saleen)GT motor way. I had a 2000 S-281 Saleen. There are no differences on the internals of a GT engine and a Saleen engine. The Saleen just comes stock with a K&N, underdrive pulleys, better exhaust, and a reflashed by Saleen computer. That's it!! Even the supercharged version has the same internals (except the Saleen Extreme, which is fully forged).

Yea, that Saleen engine was 1600 with com and all the wiring. I was buyin it from a friend. So will I need to get new suspension even though my car is already lowered? I also already have the rearend. I put an 8.8 in back in Oct.

Also, is it worth it to get the Terminator engine or should I just get the 99-02.
