12 second 1/4?
what will it take to get a 2001 Cobra into the 12's without adding F/I or spray? I wanna go all motor and pull into the 12's...is this possible or will I have to buy an LS1 or be the recipient of an act of god?
12's? With the right parts and some driving skills, you could run 11's on motor. Might be a little pricey though. I would get some good wide drag radials, 4.10 or 4.30 gears, the basic bolt-ons, and an aggressive but safe tune. If still not there, get some cams and ported heads. Don't forget that if you plan to spend 3 or 4 grand to run 12's, you could spend that money on a S/C and run 11's. Your motor will be fine as long as you get a proper tune and don't beat her everyday.
In the case of a supercharger, would it be more cost effective in terms of power:money ratio to buy an 03 or 04 and mod it...or stick with a 99-01 then buy a larger aftermarket setup?
.... this question has probably already been asnwered a thousand times...I should probably be searching for this info, but I'm at work and I can only hop on here every so often to avoid trouble
thanks for the quick initial reply BTW

i have a 99 with the listed mods below and went 12.9 in 91 degree weather at night at jackson south carolina, i was powershifting like hell but it was worth it just have to rid the car of that wheelhop
i'd say some 4.10s.. drag radials... headers/midpipe .. control arms and a 5 grand launch + a little "if it breaks i'll buy a new one" attitude
An older local man took a mach 1 into the 12s with similar mods... figured it'd be similar with you

I saw a 99 cobra w/ exhaust/intake gears & cams get into the 12's, it's actually not hard to get more hp out of the 32v motor, but I would'nt go s/c if I were you because the 99/01 motor does'nt have forged pistons like the 03/04's do. Nice rims apc! what rim/tire size you run?
