We're both right, and I think we both see each-others point. We're just biased one way or another. No point in arguing about it. To the poster, he's right (and like I said earlier), if you can find the 96 Cobra in brand new condition, than go for it. But it's going to take you longer to find it, and it's going to cost you more to buy it. W/ $20k, I'd go w/ the cheaper, newer car, and take care of business that way. Good luck on whichever route you decite to take.
lol guess i was lucky picking mine up for 12k when it already had 420rwhp[sm=lol.gif]

Be careful as to what you do to a stock pre-03 Cobra engine. Pump em up too much and you'll be trailing parts down the road. There is a limit the the engine will crank to. I'd go with the 96 and put a blower w/intercooler on it @ 10 psi. Nitro in the trunk, gear change, and exhaust upgraded.

It would kick azz.. You should have enough change to dress it out too. Seems many have strayed offtopic off your tread.

GUYS, GUYS, GUYS, why not just goto Ford performane and buy a modular motor for $4300 and some change plus shipping that is already puching 490 at the crank? Pull the other motor and sell it for 2K and your so far ahead of the pack you will have a hell of a time keeping tires on it.

Because you missed the post where he said he didn't know a whole lot about cars and motors. He just wants something reliable that will beat some *** on the street.

that in itself is a contradiction. first, you say, the pre 03 cobras cant handle much, but then you say 10 intercooled psi, with the addition of N20??? haha...the 10psi with full exhaust would put the motor on barrowed time as it is.

go with a 98 Cobra with the DOHC motor and try to buy a stock one so you dont get a car that has been runned hard. i bought my 98 cobra a year ago for 10,000. buy one for that price then put 10,000 into it and you will be a beast....stroke it to 347 with a full built motor maybe????
