Hey. I have been looking and looking for a SVT Cobra. Cant find one. Found a ****ty one for 8,000 but did not like it. Its gotta be affordable like 9500 or below. I really want a SVT Cobra though so I can't settle for less. I hate to act like a post ***** on this but I need your guys help on how to find a GOOD SVT Cobra. Ive checked auto trader, all the car lots, checked around town where people sell there cars in there yard, Newspaper. Nothing. I gotta get one A.S.A.P. My vette is about to be sold. Its killing me in repair bills so yea. Please give me some advice on how to find a reliable one. Cant afford some piece of crap. Thanks guys...ALSO I found a Mustang GT SVT??? What is it? It has GT signs on the side and SVT on the back. The add said it had a cobra motor with a GT body style and exaust. Thanks...

Yes, the GT deal is totally bogus... From what state are you looking? The car soup thing may give you some results. Another option is Ebay. I would only do that if you can go and take a look, test drive, and then make a bid on the car though. You can find some really nice cars there and competetive pricing, you just need to be able to take a look at it before making a move... There are Cobras all over the place in the price range that you are talking about, you just need to find them. I hope that you can hang on long enough, as you will not be dissapointed once you are behind the wheel of one of your own. Especially after you have owned a Corvette... The Cobra you will find in your price range might not be quite the car that the Corvette is, but with a little work you can have one that is hotter and for a lot less money...

I see that you are from North Carolina... I might goof around and look a little this evening and post back later.

Thanks for the responses and I am going to be able to wait a few weeks so I am going to keep looking. Not as fast as the corvette? I mean the corvette is fast but speed is not my top priority. I need something a bit more reliable, hold more people, and the BAD*** mustang sound. I love the way the cobras sound. It's that low throaty sound that nothing else has. I will work on the mustang to make it one of the best in town. I have put alot of time in the corvette and it can run with saleens. Im not looking for something in mint condition but yea something that i can work with and improve. Also stupid quiestion but with the stock mufflers the cobra sounds good. Say if i put flowmasters on it or borla. Will it still have that same sound or will it be like a loud dragster sound. My vette has the flowmaster 40 series and I hate the way it sounds. Its loud and resonance is HORRIABLE. It was converted to true dual but that didn't seem to make much of a difference. From what I have seen on here, mustangs are so much easier to mod than the corvette. It seems but correct me if im wrong the Cobra responds great with exaust and pulleys. I have a custom chip for the corvette and it seemed to make it faster. A friend of mine who used to own a Cobra...believe it was a 2002 had the rearend gears, pulleys, and a K&N intake and said the Cobra can take more air than most cars and thats why it's so easy to mod. I am really looking forward to having a mustang. Nothing against Chevy but it seems fords are built better. There are alot of mustangs on the road but they are RICED OUT. 6 cylinders with stickers, body kit and dual BUT the body kit is primered they have a ton of stickers of things they dont have to imitate sponsors like on dragsters and there exaust has no mufflers but just tips and it sounds horriable. Thats just my opinion...Again thanks guys...One more thing, I know this is probably a stupid quiestion but can someone please explain abouut the heat exchanger? I saw a post about it being changed out because it is bad for the motor...Is there a search on here. If there is sorry im new and I could not find it. How much is the heat exchange?...thanks again.

Im from N.C. I am looking for a 99 or 2000 if its in the price range but I guess I could go with a older model. What do you mean a decent one? Like are you saying I have to rebuild the motor, transmission, ect. Its got to be in working order and yes I plan on modding it. Eventually probably next year I would like to have it Supercharged. Unless a Turbo is better and cheaper. Thanks...ALSO WHAT IS A HEAT EXCHANGE...Is it a radiator??? or something similar.

Ummm then ude want to look for a 99 but preferably 01-02 or so... they didnt make cobras on 00.. except the Cobra R.. and ur not getting one lol so...
a heat exchanger, dont worry about that, thats for the supercharged 03-04 cobras... turbo is not cheaper, more expensive but can push out more power in a sence.. u coudl search the forums for comparisons on both...

no what i mean by decent one.. 9.5k would find u a very good sn-95 actually... an 01 might be a little harder.. u might need to throw in some more money man...
but a decent one, no the engine and all would be fine, but ude need to put money into it by that point for maintanence for wear and tear and **** u know what i mean... or u could do it, as it breaks or needs replacing it.. buy a better part and mod the **** out of it lol..

but NC thats a little harder to find in i think, maryland would be a nice place to find um... u might have to retry ur distances and try and find one within like a 2 hour or so drive and trailer it home or drive it.. w/e....

but since ur a new cobra owner(going to be one) and want to know anything there is... also u can find cobras here for sale... www.svtperformance.com .. this is where i am most of the time since i bought the cobra.. great people and tons of great info man... cant beat it

I bought my 96 triple black vert w/ 77000 miles for $8000. I feel I got a good deal. Clean FL car. Has some dings and paint fade on the hood but nothing major for a nearly 11 year old car. BTW Blue book says retail is $11400 for it. I've looked for months though. Don't have $ for a newer one.

I didn't see this above so I'll mention it. There was no 2002 Cobra. Just the 2000 'R' (300 made) as noted above, and the 2001. No regular Cobras in 2000 due to issues with the motors not making the advertised power.

Definitely check over on SVTPerformance.com for Cobra for sale. Also eBay, AutoTrader, etc.
