Default Car?

Ok a couple of you guys know I was looking for a Cobra and I found this one. It's a 95 yellow 110,000 miles. It's a bit dinged up and probably needs a paintjob in the near future. It's bright yellow. Hes asking 5,000 for it. Seems kind of good to be true. Checked carfax and it was clear. He said hes the third owner and it was "garage kept". Good deal or POS.

Not bad considering some Fox mustangs are still going for that price. I say offer four cash and spend the rest on a paint job or rebuild.

Ok thanks guys. I just like asking you guys opinions. Much better than dealership/private seller quiestions as they lie to much.

The 5.0 is a good engine, might be more able to handle boost better then the 4.6 with more forged parts... 5 grand is really reasonable for the miles and the year. My advice though, is to cosider my learned rule of thumb, that if there are more then one or two bolt on parts, the car was most likely abused and might be ready for some refreshing (to put it lightly)... I can tell you that (and I didn't do as well, but not that bad) my brother bought a 97 Cobra with 70,000 miles on it a couple of years ago for 10,000 dollars... He did really well, as there weren't any aftermarket parts on there and it is mechanically extreemly sound... Several years ago I bought first one (also a '97) with no aftermarket parts on it with 25,000 miles for 15,000 dollars. I know that I could have done better then that, even at the time, but the car has almost 70,000 on it and the only thing I have had to do was replace the water pump on it. The car is as close to perfect as it can be... But, I am also the one that bought one with 120,000 miles on it for 5,000 dollars (with some aftermarket bolt ons, thinking that I would be some mods ahead) and have ended up replacing most every moving part on it to make it right... The car isn't what I would call close to perfect, as there are only some minor (but expensive) problems that still linger... just throwing in a little experience/advice here... Wish you good luck, because that really never hurts.
