Default Tranny Question

Guys, I have ???. When I'm cruising around and I'm going through the gears the tranny shifts fine no issues what so ever. But when I get agressive and I'm driving my car hard, I find that somtimes I can't get the car to go in gear. Perfect example, the other day I was riding home from work when an E46 M3 pulls up. It's the 01-to current model. Not exactly sure what year though. Anyway We are both at the light and he gives me the look. So I'm like F^&k it why not. Trac control off, let's do it. Long story short. we hit it. 1-2 shift not a prob, got the jump on him his front end is right at my gas tank. 2-3 shift big prob, went for the shift at about 6900 RPM I could'nt get the dam thing into third. Engine bounced of the rev limiter race over. It was wierd, it was like there was somthing blocking the shifter from going into third. I got off the clutch and back on it to about 6700 RPM, tried to throw back into third again nothing. Went back to 2nd let the revs drop to about 5g's up shifted poped right into 3rd no issues. I was really pissed, as I was jonesing to run with one these M3's for a while. Anyway this is not the first time it has happen. And it alwasy happens when I'm really getting on it. I've been driving manuals all my life and this really perplexes me. I was just wondering if this issue is inherit of the Cobra tranny. I have heard that the 2-3 upshift can be a real pain. It even happens on the 1-2 somtimes. The the thing that gets me is, it's not all the time. But when it does happen it always hapens when I reving the hell out it. I just want to know if any of you have experienced this issue in your 99/01.

+1 on the short throw. Night and day differance on the feel and precision. I rarely powershift, but i had the same problem. When I installed the short throw, she went right into third without any hassle. Also, try the self adjustment with the clutch pedal. Put her into first, car off of course, and push the clutch pedal all the way down. Let her up and lift the pedal toward you with your foot. You'll hear a click. Don't know if it'll help, but its free and takes no time.

Thanks guys, I'll look into those suggestions. Man I know I could've wiped the floor with that M3. You should've seen the look on his face at the next light. All Smug and ****. I told him he was lucky I missed 3rd all he would not have had a chance.

I have the same prob somtimes when I'm racing, it's not like a miss shift it just won't go in to third, or it's a rough shift. (what's weird is after a few high speed runs it shifts much smoother) I even have an aftermarket T56 with pro 50 sort shifter, The TR3650 blows dong. It can't handle much torque, and 2nd to third shifts sucked for me. havin a 6 speed is much nicer too

Thats the thing that drives me crazy, it's not like I miss the shift. It's like 1-2-2-brick wall. I've been kicking around the idea of the T56. Do you get better Gas Milage as well? I can fool myself into putting up the $$$ if I think I'm doing somthing economical in the long run. LOL
