Default Recall 99B27

I know that this topic has been adressed repeatedly, however, I am in need of some advice. I have a 99 Cobra with about 20,000 miles on it that I have had for a couple of months. After running the VIN @ my local dealer there is no history of this recall having been performed. The dealer also informed me that Ford stopped performing these recalls back in March of 2001. I was curious as to whether anyone else has had any succes in getting Ford to perform the recall since then. I do already have a Magnaflow cat back ready to be installed, so I am not that worried about the exhaust. I also have plans for a tuner, so the re-flash of the computer isn't a concern either. I really am worried about the intake porting. I thought that the recall had been performed since there is a little blue dot painted on a hose near the lower intake manifold. The car runs strong, but obviously we all want as much power as we can get. Any advice/help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! Oh, and SVT did offer to let me buy the kit and pay Ford to install it, YEAH RIGHT!

Getting a response on this board is like pulling teeth. I don't know why yet though.
If you already did the exhaust, and you plan on tuning it yourself, just find a machine shop and see how much they will charge you to do an extrude hone. Either that, or get into an aftermarket intake manifold.
Either way, it will cost you less than having Ford take care of it.
Good luck

alright, so the recall wasnt really a recall at all. It was declared a customer satisfaction problem. So people brought in their cobras, they replaced the intake manifold, the restrictive exhaust, and the restrictive mid pipe i believe. I did ALOT of research on this and its not big to fix if your planning to do basic bolt ons anyways. Just buy and exhaust, midpipe, and get your manny bored which i was going to do anyways. The recall was never done on my car and im making power. So relax and just bolt on a few things

Me and a friend have the same car and we went in half on a tuner and set the tunes up for our cobras. I also have an exhaust and my intake is ported (extrude hone) same thing. My car is fast. I raced a 01 cobra stock and smoked him to 90 by about 3 cars.

hey the recall consisted of three things some shape form or fashoined the intake manifold was ported, mine was extrude honed some were acid dripped, then the exhaust was reworked from headers back and the computer was reflashed, you can call ford and give the vin of the car they can pull up all of the work done while the car was under warranty and if the recall was done it should state something like performance recall.... that is what mine said, i got a print out of all of the warranty work just to have.
