Ok Big problem. Please answer if you know.
Ok heres the deal. I have an 01 cobra with all the mods listed below. i have been running about 13.5 for a while then i hit 13.2 and then on my 2nd to last run last week i hit 12.8 at 106. But the run after that when i took off at the line i ended up snapping my axle and osmehting else in the rear. I was getting ready to buy a supercharger but i realized if the rear cant handle the horsepower now it will never be able to handle it with a s/c. So what can i do to my rear to make it stronger? Dont forget it is an 01 cobra which means it has the IRS. I ahve the cobra r IRS brace, aftermarket bushings and springs. But i need it alot stronger. i ahve about 1000 to put into it maybe more if i wait a little while. what can i do ive heard i could put in a solid rear axle but that would cost liek 1000 just for that before i can even beef that up. So any suggestions?
Having an IRS means you dont have an axle. You can buy level 5 halfshafts which will be the best investment in the IRS. They run 1300-1500. Get a billetflow IRS brace. Lowering springs and bushings will help to. It is cheaper to buy a solid rear, thats why you see alot of people doing it. It gets expensive.
dont get rid of the IRS, the irs can be VERY beneficial and alot smarter if your driving on open road as a DD also. IRS can be beefed up enough to handle anything, in the november issue of Modified Mustangs they have a whole article on it and irs is recommended to keep UNLESS your going all out drag car
