About how much heavier? Fox bodies are really nose heavy anyway.

its quite a bit shawn just swapped a solid into his 03 and the car is about 200 lbs trimmer than before. doesnt ride as nice however. the 03-04 has way beefier half shafts than the 99 and 01. the 03-04 irs is way stronger.

so IRS is on the 03-04 cobra..and the solid rear axle is on the 99 and 01 ?
You may be confused with the Mach 1 which had the 99-01 cobra engine with a solid axle...BUT

I believe the 03's have refined lower control arms and i know they have a beefier pinion flange...the half shafts are only as beefy as the 01's because they are both 31 spines while us 99's are stuck with 28's[]

but check out http://www.mustang50magazine.com/tec...y_mustang_irs/
i've been using that for info when i've been planning my IRS build-up...anyone wanna trade a 99 IRS for an 03!?

I think I can handle an extra 200 pounds. I have 3.08 gears in my rear now so if i go with the 03-04 irs i'll have 3.55's, so at least my acceleration wont get worse

id stick with the stick axle and do a watts rear end setup, adjustable shocks, with all new bushings all the way around the car. be cheaper, lighter. and handle better.

do you need a torque arm with a watts link?

I've thought about that setup but it seems like you lose a couple of inches of ground clearance with the torque arm. Also i should mention that this car probably wont ever see a road course, so will a solid axle out perform a well set up IRS on the rough streets of new england?
