which IRS should i buy
whats the difference between 99, 01-02 IRS and 03-04, other than gear ratio? Theres a 500 dollar difference in price from MPS salvage on the whole assembly. Also what upgrades are a good choice for the IRS?
Any help would be great, thanks.

Hah, now way. I know the pains of wheel hop with my 03 cobra, they have IRS.
I am happy to see someone actually interested in buying IRS setup because I was wondering if I would be able to sell mine with ease to switch out ot a live axle.
I don't have an answer for you on which is better, sorry.

I've been told that wheel hop can be pretty bad with IRS but i live in new england and i want the improved ride quality. I wont be pushing much power for at least a few more years, i think a maximum motorsports package should keep it to a minimum.

gah, no all cobras 99 and up (not sure about R) have irs. No solids. IRS wheel hop can be easily cured though. I recommend sticking with the irs and just getting some bushings and stiffining it up some. Just save you some hassle and it works just fine.
Oh, yeah to stay on the point they stiffened up the irs on the 04s fixing SOME wheelp hop issues, not much at all so 04 FTW if you can afford it that is

not just bushings with stop wheelhop, there will be many things that you will need to rid yourself. the 03 and 04 halfshafts are a lot stronger and the 01 cobra had stiffer bushing than the 99 cobra, the 99 irs is the worst to have although it is still good, i have not had any problems with mine on the street but when i take it to the track it is awful, going to strengthen it up come first of year.

Think this swap can be done for around 3 grand, including upgrading front brakes to cobra spec, used 5 lug wheels and tires, and an MM Rear Grip package($500)? I'm probably selling the solid axle to someone doing a 5.0 ranger so that gives me a little extra $ for any expenses i forget to add in.
