96-98 Cobra, 99 or 01 Cobra
Ok so my 96 GT is having alot of issues and im not sure as to put anymore money in it. So I was thinking 96-98 Cobra or 99 or 01 Cobra they are in my budget I have found a 98 in my area as well as a 01 For Sale that I like is there any issues with these year Cobras I should be aware of I know about the 99 and the Recall on them so Im thinking of staying away from that year but any other issues? would you go with a the 98 or 01? Im still looking around but am thinking of looking at the 98 and 01 this week any input would be appriciated thanks.

well here ill leave it up to you...i own the problem stricken 99 and most of them have had the recall completed but...
1998
1) Teksid aluminum engine (you dont get much stronger, 900+ hp capable BLOCK, not internals)
2) solid axle, if your a strait line guy, this would be your choice)
3) Higher flowing "B series" heads, outflow the 01's "C series, tumble-port" heads
2001
1) Beefier IRS, many improvements over the 99 IRS, but still has a lot of issues
2) No engine problems associated with 1999 cobras
3) Nicer body style IMO, along with a better chance of it being in good condition
1998

I would get an 01 Cobra it looks better and probably will have less miles on it, I have one and love it. The IRS is not that bad for strait line drags, but the strait axle is better. Also depends on your HP levels if you keep them moderate you'll never have a prob with the IRS. You'll be happy with the 01. What do you plan for in terms of mods??

Looks like the 99 - 01 have a lot of good points. In a futile effort to give you something to think about when making your decision 92stang......no nostrils on the 01's hood!?!?
