Any suggestions on putting a solid axle under a 04 Cobra? 8.8 or 9". Any problems to look out for? What year model cars can you get one out of?

 

you should be able to do it easy.

there are swaps to take a Fox body solid axle out and drop in a Cobra IRS
so it shouldn't be hard to do the reverse.

9" if you got the bucks.


a 8.8 out of a Fox body stang with good 31 spline axles and traction-lock should
be almost as good though.

one of my buddies just did the swap on his 03 . the rear came from a 2000 gt it's an 8.8 only thinkg is the stock cobra rotors werent compatible with the 8.8 so he has cobra calipers with gt rotors.

 

Other then the price, the Ford 9" is the way to go... it is strong as heck and way easier to do gear changes yourself (which most deffinately a plus).
