No to both. 1996 was the first year for the 32 valve 4.6 liter engine. Stock tranny was a 5-speed. Range of prices depeding upon shape it's in (was also a big year for Mystic color....these fetch a bit more money).

Just out of curiousity... I know the 94-95 cobra's were 5.0's, what was the motor differences between 94/95 GT's and the 94/95 Cobra's?

24 valves as to 32 valves, one cam as to four cams, and HUGE heads (not head-ers)on the cobra compared to the stock GT engine. Also I believe (could be wrong) the GT uses an iron block and the cobra uses aluminum. Also the cobra engine has more displacement than cubics straight from the factory, so thats saying something already. The GT does not.

This is debateable --but I prefer the 4.6 over the 5.0. Theres a good reason why ford switched from 5.0 to 4.6, and its not just cause of fuel economy and emmissions. I think it runs alot more smoothly, but its alot more expensive to get parts for and theres more moving parts inside the engine.

as for your other question the 5.4 liter engine is only found in the 07 cobra mustangs.
(dont know about pre 80's models, not too knowledgeable in them to be honest)

The year the came out with 6 speed was in the supercharged cobras I believe (03-04).

Dont get discouraged, 96 cobra is one hell of a car. I have a 97 and I see no need to ever have another one, or get another year.(unless i simply want another)

The only Mustangs that come with the 5.4 are the 2000 Cobra R and the 2007 Shelbys.

I wouldnt mind picking up an older 96-97 cobra for a daily driver eventually once I get my 04 Cobra here and use it for a weekend/good weather car. Those older cobra's always sound so good when they drive by and I like the styling on them... at least Ford got that right.

the difference bt the 94 95 gt/cobra is that the cobra came with gt40 heads better intake, better cam, underated 245 hp, which was more like 275 i believe. 5.0s are bad but they are not as advacnced as the 4.6 cobra, which i agree with italia on as where the 4.6 is better, and a lot smoother

Yeah, as stated above, first year for the 4.6, and a standard 5 speed. I like mine a lot, so far. Thought it was fast, until I drove my mom's GTO. Still, a great car.
