t45 to a t56
So its about time my t45 is ready to crap out on me, now im going to need to replace it but i could do a t56 ordering it tomorrow for about 2500 installed. Now what differences am i gonna notice besides a 6th gear. Is it really worth it? Pros/cons
well depends, is it a viper spec, outta a vette or a cobra? they all have different ratings, but they all should handle what you need. The ratios are a little closer together so you'll find shifting a tad sooner, but that also means getting a little faster. Against what most people think, you dont have an extra gear to play with as 5th and 6th are both OD gears, but you shouldnt need them
...not sure but if u had a short shift, u may need a new one

It is fairly common now for earlier Mustangs to upgrade to the Cobra T-56. It's a stout tranny able to handle big power. As stated above, it will likely easily handle the power levels you're likely shooting for. Some prefer the Viper spec T-56 but it is more expensive. I really liked my T-56, although I rarely used 6th gear. It was, though, nice on the highway seeing that I could drop the RPMs down and improve fuel economy a bit.
I got mine built by D&D it's cobra spec with beefed up input an output shafts and some other goodies it's suppose to hold up to 700 RWTQ. I would get the T56 cause it's much stronger and has more potential. First gear is longer though so I would reommend havin at least 4:10 gears in the rear if you want the light to light speed.
