As far as oil is concerened i think most guys will tell you they run mobil 1 fully synthetic 5w-20 in the cobras althoguh i know some guys use royal purple products. to gain aroung 50 hp your best bet is a pulley swap and tune. I would bet the heads are stock, i have't heard of anyone relly touching the heads on these cars.

Get a 2.8 upper pulley, Heat Exchanger and a dyno tune and you will easily pick up 40-70rwhp.

Punctuation man, punctuation. Took me a minute to read what you had to say cause theres nothing seperating it all. Anyway he pretty much answered your question.

Otherwise:
The 50 horse -- headers and a tune up.
The heads -- wont really know til you take off the valve covers.

well the tsb for the heads was released in early/mid 05, so depending on the date the motor was put in, i doubt they would used faulty heads that might potentially cost them more money down the road(assuming they put in a whole unit not just a bottom end which i cant recall ever seein at my dealership).....so i wouldnt think your car would ever have the head tick issue....... far as motor oil, i run Mobil-1 in my 03 cobra.

also if you have a new Long block put in they allredy have the revised heads for the tick and the cooling problem

All the SVT motors are reman motors, the motor and all the parts in the motor are brand new BUT it is not put together by ford its done by some company in Texas contracted out by ford that's why they call it a reman

you can call SVT and ask them for your self if you want 1 800-367-3788

Dose you motor have the build tag on it still andare your valve covers still painted?

itshould not have a tag on the motor sense it wasnt assembled by ford they only do that when they come from the romeo plant,

Initially Ford stated that only Cobras built before 11/02 were prone to develop the tick issue due to the inferior cooling passages of the current head. That was laterchanged when it was found that even 2004s were developing the issue. So they revised the head properly and it was released in January of 2005. The part numbers are:

Left side head
Part # 2C5Z-6049-BAB
Right side head
Part # 2C5Z-6049-CAB

Any motor replaced by Ford prior to 01/05 likely has a previous release head. Unless And if so, there would be the potential for the tick issue to develop. You should be able to see the part number from beneath the car.
