lol, well you could try gettting it done with cams, this is pretty good mod that will net about 40hp, it will blow the hell out of that price buble you have but will get you pretty damn close to your power range. i was thinking about doit this (after my car is payed off) and it seems like the full kit will cost 1400, and you might want to have it done at a shop unless your hands are god... lol.

But the good news is the 4v engine responds great to any kind of power adder, and other performance mod
Not very true at all. The NA 4.6 does NOT respond very well to the common as water bolt ons (UDP's, CAI's, Plenums, TB's etc). Because the engine is NA they provide very minimal performance enhancement. The only worthwhile mod is a CAI to free up some air. I wouldnt reccomend a huge CAI like a JLT for the sn95's because the motor is not supercharged, and does not require that much air. Its a waste of money.

Secondly. The car is fairly expensive to mod and repair. Most parts for cobras are throughly overpriced compared to their SOHC GT counterparts. For some things, youll be paying top dollar. Its unavoidable. You pay for the name unfortunately. Dont let that deter you from the car though.

If you plan on making this car a every day driver, I wouldnt get 4.10's. Most of the 6 speed guys here have no problems due to a wider gear ratio and the 6th gear. For us T45 5 speeders, life is a bit differrent. Going 70-80 mph with 4.10's is going to put you in the 4500 range or more. I have 3.73's and when I'm going 80 I'm 3000 flat. 3.73's will defenitely bring out the powerband, while keeping everyday driveability practical and fun.

What the 4.6 DOES respond well to is any kind of decent engine work. Valejobs, cam swaps, bore increases, flathead pistons.. all of that stuff will do you some good. Although the internals are not forged, the block itself is made of aluminum and can withstand a good amount of hp. More than you'll need haha. Forged internals are a good idea to throw in, and although they are somewhat pricey, they're worth it. Especially when running at a higher compression ratio.

Also headers are a day project with a few friends. Not that hard at all. I got mine on no problem.

The only cons I can think of off the top of my head is the mach 460 system and the brakes.

I'll start with the mach 460. Its a great stock system. If your not system crazy then you'll never need to touch it. But if you like to mod your sound system, your looking at a headache. Speaking for my area most places refused to work on it here. That should give you a little insight on it. While not impossible, its a nutjob.

The brakes. The brakes themselves are decent. You might want to get some aftermarket rotors, but its really not that big of a deal. What they seem to be known for though, is having problems with the caliper clips, and other oddball noises and squeals. I had/have this problem with mine, and I have yet to tack everything down. Usually its not consistent, only coming out now and then, but everyones experience is different.

ALSO if you plan on putting aftermarket rims on the car, you MUST make sure the rims are specified for the cobra model. I say this because the brakes and rotors are much bigger on the cobra models. As you can imagine this makes all kinds of space/clearence issues on a set of rims designed for a V6 or GT. Luckily all my new rims needed was a valvestem and some half inch spacers.

You'll be glad to also know that most cosmetic parts are interchangable from V6 to Cobra. For example, if you need a headlight, dont bother paying $300 for a headlight labled "cobra" when you can pull a perfect identical one out of a junkyard for $5.

All in all, the sn95 4.6 cobras are real good solid running cars. They're a bitch to work on, but you'll be satisfied with the results. My best adice to you is do some homework before adding anything to the car. Some of the most hyped up mods are also the biggest money wasters.

That should put you close, if not there. I suggest a bore increase while your at it. I bored mine 20 over and its great.

Obviously with the cams you'll need new valvesprings and whatnot but those come as part of the set usually.
