Default Cooling mods

Hey,

I had a quick question about the cooling mods for Cobras. I just swapped an 03 Cobra shorblock into my car. I remember hearing that there is a way that you can reroute coolant so that cylinders 4 and 8 cool better but idk. Is this cooling mod done to the block or the heads. ANy info would be appreciated. THanks

theres a couple of kits out there, look at lighting force performance or lethal performance, most require you to remove either the blower or the transmission for installation.

Thanks. I checked out LFP. I saw a HEAD cooling kit. I just have the shortblock. I was thinking that the cooling mod was to the block itself. THanks for the tip.

The only cooling mods are heat exchanger, intercooler expansion tank, and the head cooling mod.

The coolant modification has never been proven to do anything what so ever it is just someone’s thought. I personally have never had it on my car and never had a heat problem either

The head cooling mod was thought of as a good idea, because the pistons were popping before the fix was given to the Cobra owners. The #7 and 8 heads do not havea way to have coolant to escape like the other heads, creating basically a sauna in those heads, and to much pressure can cause them to expand. When all those Cobras were going down from the #7/8 heads, that was the explantion Ford gave. The #7/8 heads failed due to excessive heat due to running boost for to long.

The Even Flow head cooling mod goes on the top of the motor, and the LDC Chicago goes underneath, but you have to drop the tranny to do it.

The basic cooling modifications to do to the cobras are: Heat exchanger, T-stat, Head cooling mod, and radiator. The expansion tank does relativly nothing. Just holds more in the resevoir.
