Default 100 shot vs KB... going crazy.

Ok.. I have pretty much figured out that I am doing a straight axle... 1200-1400 to install, plus I figure I can sell my IRS for a few hundred... but I am doing 1 more power adder and i'll be done with it. I had my sights set on a 100 shot and was going to leave it alone after that... however.... I have been toying around with the 2.6KB again....... which brand new is around 3600 w/ a flip chip or 3300 without the flip chip... which really isn't bad and I could run close to 700/700 with a decent tune on modest boost.. so for the KB it would probably cost me around $4000-$4100 tuned, installed and out the door... with new injectors also. THen I could sell my stage 3 port for around 600... costing me around 3400 in the end, if i don't find a used one for cheaper....

Or, I could buy a 100 shot nitrous kit w/warmer, switch etc.(800-1000), installed for a couple hundred, tuned for another few hundred + flip chip - figuring around 2,000 for everything. (This type things I wouldn't do myself) then get back a note or 2 for my xcal2... figure around 1700-1800 and run 600-620rwhp/dunno how much torque...

my first question is this... flip chips on a non nitrous car that will be basically running a race tune in any weather except torrential rain, I dont think it's worth it... what do you guys think? I already have my Xcal2 which I could use....

My second question is.. Do I really need all that KB power?? For the guys out there that have had to make this decisions... what helped you in making it? I won't be doing either of these things for a lil bit now... but tryin to get all my ducks in a row now so to speak...

What do you guys think? And please, give me actual opinions... not the "GET THE NITROUS!" or "GO KB MAN!"... I want to hear actual thoughts and reasons why. This is a decision I have been tearing my hair out for, lol...

i would highly look into a whipple over a kb. my buddy just put a whipple on his 03 and it is so nice. he is pushing 17psi and when he gets meth put on he will be at 25psi. whipples are a lil bit cheaper than kb and i think look 10000x better than that shoebox. but im just telling you his experience and how it turned out. all i can say is 2nd gear makes you feel like your in a airplane ready to take off.

See I was thinking whipple when I first got my Cobra, but 3 big tuners in my area, all that sell whipple and KB... said to go KB because of the casting with the whipples... they all agreed for the same reasons that KB's were just made better...Besides, I don't need the 3.4 Whipple and the 2.3 Whipple doesnt perform nearly as well as the 2.6H KB... from what i've seen. When there's a difference of $200.00 for the blower...

Ok your definately not going to make 700/700 on modest boost with the KB 2.6. And as far as getting the KB or nitrous get the KB. Alot easier on the motor and its there all the time. You could get a nitrous kit install cheaper than what you posted. Alot of ppl are going with the dynotune dry nitrous kits which are $280. Get it tuned. Keep your sct xcal tuner. Either way I would keep your xcal and get the car dyno tuned. Sambandit has a 302 stroker with the 2.8 KB and he didnt even make those numbers on 19psi.

Ya know i've noticed a lot of people with 2.6 KB Cobras either run low 600's on high 600s to the wheel.. I have known a few of them locally that do with minimal mods... I might just pony up and get the 2.8H, or maybe i will get a 2.3 whipple - should be able to get them cheap with the new 3.4L out now... i dunno... but there's just something about nitrous that makes it more fun, lol... my goal is over 600+, but i want the most for my money of course.. so we'll see....

Btw.. I posted the amounts based on the things I would want with the setups... I have specific things in mind and specific prices for somethings... That's all....

Your already good fuel wise, now you just need to decide what you want to do. Nitrous is cheaper and definately would be fun. Theres a guy on svt thats got a ported eaton spray car and not much can stick with it. Hes using a 150 shot. Nitrous is no joke. The killer setup would be twin screw+nitrous Its all about whats in your budget. I prob would have got some nitrous to but I ran out of green.

I was kinda playing with the idea of like a 2.3 whipple + 50 shot, but how much is overkill? lol that's the real question. For the money i'll spend on that i could just go with a 2.8KB or a 3.4Whipple and have the 700rwhp or be inches from it, lol... ahhh decisions, decisions.....

i would suggest going with the blower upgrade, either kb or whipple it all comes down to your personal preferences. The one benefit to the blower is that the power is always there without opening a bottle or constant refilling. what happens if your runnig down the road/track and the one car you really want to kill pulls up and you have an empty bottle?

Whipple makes the 3.4L blower, but i think you need a hood modification to make it fit... if im wrong someone please correct me. I could get a 2.8H KB cheaper then that possibly... if money is the same 3.4>2.8, but if i could save 500 or so by staying witha 2.8 then it's the obvious choice....

atleast its not a bad choice to have to make - can't really go to wrong with either decision...
